QF upgrade on second sector. Baggage allowance/Lounge access

Hi all.

Flying ADL-SYD-BNE this coming thursday. the ADL-SYD sector is on a 717 with no J class so no upgrade is available. If I was to upgrade the SYD-BNE sector would I be given J class baggage allowance out of ADL as the bags will be ticketed through to BNE. Also lounge access in ADL?

Are both sectors on the same ticket. If so, I believe it will all be in your favour.

If they are on different tickets, you will have lounge access (providing the J class is on the same day) no question.
It will be up to the departing airport as to if they will check the luggage through. If on the day, you said that you phoned earlier and they said it would be fine, they will most likely let you do it.

As I understand it, that only applies with a same day international connection, assuming no status.
For a domestic itinerary it's 'next onward flight'.
