Hi, I have the following query that maybe someone can clear up as it has confused me today. I am traveling SIN-BOM on QF51 tomorrow 6th Aug and QF seat selection for QF51 shows the following map (sorry for lack of cut and paste)
X = allocated and 0 = available
XX 00 XX
XX X0 0Xx <- thats me
X0 00 00
XX XX X0
00 00 00

Check my trip however paints an entirely different picture. it shows:
XX X0 XX
XX XX XX
X0 X0 00
XX XX X0
XX XX XX

Any clue why check my trip is so much different than QF? I was shocked to the point that I no longer trust viewing sites like check my trip or expert flyer and even QF for that matter.

Any ideas on why such a difference might exist would be handy to know.

I also called QF to see if i could get row 16 on the MEL-SIN leg today and they said they could not allocate them and had to ask at the airport as they are still blocked even though I am WP. I then asked about row 23 and got a similar response , they were still blocked. I thought seats open at T24 or something? Maybe not for exit rows or waiting maybe for a late CL to appear. I will ask tomorrow.

Have you checked E/F ?

I am getting the following:

That closely matches what you're seeing on QF seat selection with the exception of the blocked seat next to you (I'd say that's floating, if you move it'll go with you) and blocked 2F.

I've found E/F fairly accurate once my FF number was entered, the main exceptions being the floating blocked seats and sometimes row 3 on domestic 734s (which seems to be frequently blocked on E/F and available on QF or vice-versa).

I've never found CMT accurate when it comes to showing seating availability. It might be accurate with no status, but I've frequently found the entire cabin showing as taken in CMT when E/F and QF have shown plenty of seats.

Expert flyer is very accurate if you have added your QF number to your profile since it will then show seats available based on your status

thanks for the information. I will start to use Expert Flyer again, stopped using it when seat selection became available. I think CMT is def. flawed as my QFF number is in my booking.

CMT does not use your FF number if checking for seat maps so will only show based on that which is generally available for those with no status

.

If the seat next to me is being blocked by QF for my comfort then great but I tend to find on the SIN-BOM-SIN flights J is very rarely full. I wish they woudl allow me to select row 1A/K, oh well wish me luck tomorrow. I have aksed on different flights, been told sorry and then flown with those seats empty. I guess the CL member cancelled.

FWIW, CMT has not given consistent seat maps for quite some time.

For example, Q-blocked & 'accessible'* seats that show on E/F show on CMT as taken.

Even taking that into account there are still further inaccuracies.

One peculiarity of CMT I have noticed is that it consistently shows the rearmost row of J as occupied, even when the seats are actually available to all.

ok i am siting at BOM dom after just flying SIN-BOM and can comment on the seat allocation. At MEL I actually got my seat changed to 1A, it allowed the F check in lady to do it even though it still showed as blocked in her system.
Also on my MEL-SIn leg in F the seat map I saw on QF seat selection was exactly what occured in flight with only 7 pax. I changed my 1A to 4A once I knew no babies were on board as I love the extra space it offers. So I am thinking QF seat selector is not far off the mark.
