QF Premium Economy Review - SYD>DXB>LHR

Has anyone recently travelled in Premium Economy from SYD>LHR ? Im booked to go in March next year and any feedback about this would be appreciated. FYI Im seated in rows 27B/27J

My main issue is when the seats in front recline, it is difficult to exit from a window seat. Your aisle seatmate may need to get up. Is an exit row seat available?

How much did you pay for your ticket and what are the cancellation fees? For as little as $4500 you can fly business class with full flat beds all the way to Europe these days.

We have just returned from a trip to Europe flying QF PE.
On our flight over we managed to grab front row 24 A/B, so no recline issues. And our return flight 28 J/K - I quite liked this seats although on the Dubai - MEL, leg when the man in front reclined it was harder to get out. But fortunately it was a night leg.

I was very impressed with the service, staff were very good. Seats are nice and spacious and plenty of legroom and I love the storage bins by the window.

We managed to to get sale fares at $3500, so if the opportunity arose again I would book PE again.

Just checked the fares - FRA in March next year $4100 and LHR $4400 for full flat the whole way (VN).

My take on QF Premium Economy is that it is one of the better examples out there, the food and drink are quite reasonable the seats aren't too bad compared to say BA PE, but as MEL_Traveller points out there are options out there for Business Class into Europe/UK at reasonable prices.

As an aside I notice that UL is pricing its MEL-CMB-LHR at the $4600 mark of June/July next year. I know it is $1k more than people are paying for PE, and that is not an inconsiderable amount, but it is not bad at all. I have flown CMB-LHR a couple of times with UL and have been impressed with both the hard and soft product.

Great advice - I changed back from the window seat to the aisle (based on this suggestion)

The non-sale PE fare price on QF at $5000 plus is hard to justify when a J fare can be found on other airlines for about the same price (or sometimes lower).

And the rest! Current QF PE prices to London are $6425 (more over Christmas).

Elsewhere VN is the current leader for full business class - $4100-4400 (additional 'luxe tax' for LHR for the latter). And mixed classes are in the sub $3000 range (recent example of this combined Japan Airlines' [luxury] economy to Tokyo followed by Qatar business class all the way to europe)

djm, I flew QF PE to LHR to MEL in January. It was 50x better than flying in Y. No doubt J is 100x better but it was really nice and I got some decent sleep. It is less chaotic, less busy, more personal feeling, and more space. For an extra $600 it was worth it but not for double the cost.

Thanks for the feedback - Inotice the "sale" fares for our flight are all gone (no surprise there).

I think UL J is a great option flying out of LHR. We grabbed an award fare and were happy with the product. Paid J fare Colombo through HK then ADL and last leg was in CX J. Bliss. Great price too.

QF's PE pricing is nothing short of madness. I don't understand the thinking beyond the prices they charge. Are the PE seats generally full (which could just be accounted by upgrades from Y I suppose)?

I wonder how SQ goes filling their PE? They almost never upgrade (for free at least). But IIRC SQ's PE was about $2800 to Europe? That's probably more in the ball-park for the actual 'value' of the product.

Good to hear that PE to LHR is reasonable. I have just booked PE for London over school holidays
I couldn't justify the business fare.
Side note husband booked his business ticket months ( i decided to join him) and hus business ticket is about the same cost as my PE
Have put in for an upgrade
