No, it is my own personal choice. I don't disagree that any airline may have a good record (if that equates to experienced and well trained pilots), just that I wouldn't be keen to fly them. Probably illogical but that's me.
We flew Vietnam airlines internally around 10 years ago and we were blown away by the planes. Much more leg room and general niceness compared with even Qantas. But that was short flights.

I stand corrected then :) though having a stop over in Vietnam is not high on my wish list. I know lots of people love the place though.
I knew someone who flew to London on Yugoslav airlines (whenever that existed and whatever it was called). Apparently they landed in some out of the way European city and that was it. She had to arrange her own transport from there to London. I know she had been tossing up whether to go cheap or QF/BA. Her elderly mother in the UK was ill and she decided to do cheap so that if she needed to go several times it wasn't going to be too expensive. I think things have improved a great deal since then. :)

Agree totally.

Back on topic, we have always found PE on QF to be very good and are quite happy to fly it if push comes to shove.

Our first flight not in Y was in PE and we thought it was heaven. We did select exit rows and that was in the very early days of the A380 when the cabin was only Y+. But there are some dodgy seats also. We did pay quite a bit more than Y for them.

We thought we would try out Y+ on a trip to Singapore when QF first got the A380. It was a half price offer - so about $2200 for both of us. Mr LtL always says that we both got the same email. He deleted it while I rushed into him and said, 'I've booked this trip!'. My recollection is not quite the same. Somehow though we had J upgrades both way so it was a very cheap flight. I think the first Y+ we did was actually to JNB (with upgrade to J on the way home).
