QF Platinum Recognition on flights

At top of descent I was given a QF key ring. Two other WP around me. One given a J amenity kit and the other a QF cap.
Interesting @Daver6 as it seems recognition is good/better for Y pax.

In the past year, over a dozen J international flights, only one key ring for Mr Flyfrequently after we were delayed and ended up departing on his birthday.

Yes, but that’s where it really makes a difference.

I rarely have not got a personal welcome flying J but there’s not much extra they can do besides ensuring first choice of meals etc.

Happy to fly J with no recognition than Y to maybe get a card/keyring/cup of plonk @SYD 🤭
Just to clarify, I invariably do get a personal welcome in J.

But I’ve had some splendid medium haul flights in whY where J cabin crew just turn up unannounced with proper glass full of J red wine. Cheers!

I have had a few domestic flights in the last few weeks.

All economy, east to west plus Network, and Alliance.

No mention of platinum at all, however service was warm and friendly on all legs. No complaints.

In May, J points redemption on QF,AY and BA euro. No specific mention or additional mention of platinum/emerald. However, again, great friendly service on all legs. Sitting in row 2 mostly.

It's only anecdotal, but the number of QFF folks I have chatted to in recent months between HKG and SIN who are deliberately using CX or QR as their main carrier for international has actually astounded me. Wonder if this is now beginning to dawn on QF with all the post-pandemic status holdovers disappearing?

I still use QF ex-AU but it's considerably getting hard to. Ain't no way I'm flying to ICN on JQ and that means I need to feed on CX. Same with PVG and SGN.

"G'day and welcome back sir" is cool and all, but have you tried a little baksheesh to elicit something more?

This was waiting for me on my seat today

I had a card on my seat in J on QF255 to Sin at the start of the month too. The CSM then came by for a chat and was asking what I was generally up to. Had a quick chat about choosing the 787 over the 380 with wifi and he mentioned a bunch of other things about the current fleet situation as well.

To those who are mentioning special greetings, smuggled wine from J, token souvenirs, are you observing other pax getting the treatment? I haven't flown in the past month or so, but got nothing more than the usual "welcome back" on boarding, whether flying J or Y. Any time I've seen crew stop for a chat lately it's either looked chummy (i.e. staff non-revving) or fawning (CL types).

i'm usually up for some banter with a personable CSM or crew and have met some great QF staff over the years. All in my pre-WP days though.

Sorry to hijack your post a tad @Volando
after my issue with quoting

But thanks for tip in Persistent Issues thread @DejaBrew - as you know, we/I work to our strengths and IT isn't one on mine!

Don’t expect much, if anything on domestic flights.

Most of what peeps have mentioned are from QFi experiences.

The J (or F) wine isn’t “smuggled”, just delivered fairly discretely. As mentioned upthread. I was seated in an A330 bulkhead seat with a shadow until shortly before departure and a JQ flight to BKK was cancelled and the majority appeared on QF82 to SIN. Some guy lucked in with the free seat next to me (probably a huge upgrade from JQ). Anyway, when the CSM greeted me and asked if I needed anything, I ask for a glass of wine. The guy next to me said, “Oh, that would be nice”. She didn’t bat an eyelid and returned with two glasses (actual glass). Which was decent TBH and probably help take the edge off what was probably a stressful situation.

It was clearly to myself and the other WP pax around me. One I believe had a special meal....at some point after J service they actually brought him a J meal. Maybe he was P1/CL....I'd never know.

After take-off asked ahead of other pax if there was anything I wanted. My request for champagne was lost in translation I guess

This made me laugh (unkindly)... but partly because I feel your pain. I had the same experience a while back, though it was trans-Tasman. Getting the basic Y booze a few moments before everyone else is not exactly a great perk. Besides, the bubbly would not be my go-to from the Y options anyway.

Seems like some CSMs feel empowered/happy to bring J drinks while others don't. Having finally succeeded in securing some J champagne in Y on CGK-SYD last week, I must say it did go down a treat, and took some of the sting out of my upgrade not clearing.

I rarely have not got a personal welcome flying J but there’s not much extra they can do besides ensuring first choice of meals etc.

I reckon around 1/3 of the time I don't get a personal welcome in J either - which I would have thought *all* J pax would get, regardless of status, on long-haul at least.
