Also flew MH Y this week. Check-in staff proactively offered extra legroom which had been selling for about $110 online, even after OLCI (they don't waive the fee for Emeralds, usually). Gave me 3 seats to myself (was a 737, so row 4 - exactly like having row 4 to yourself on a QF 737).
Also pleased that they use Plaza First in Hong Kong given that CX continues with its shenanigans of banning Emeralds from The Wing, which would have been the most convenient lounge. PPL First only seemed to have a buffet running and massage offering closed, so I don't know what made it "First" compared to the regular lounge, but still, appreciate MH's effort!
No on board recognition but did have a shadow on the onward flight when most of the cabin was full. Except, on boarding - MH uses a specific boarding pass colour for G1 (Business Suite, MH Platinum, Emerald). Most other pax were waved on board but when the crew saw the colour, they took it, studied it for a moment and then gave a personal welcome by name. A nice touch.
