QF Platinum One - how successful has it really been?

So sorry you have not been feeling the love yet. We continue to work on special invites and events for P1 and are well aware that we also need to have offers for non Sydney/Melbourne based members.

But as an FYI to all Platinum One members. We can not offer you invites if we do not know what you are interested in.

For example. The Grand Prix is coming up in Melbourne in March. If we had any tickets, they may go to Melbourne based members in the first instance but we also would include any members who have put Motorsports as an interest in their profile.

So make sure you profile is up to date! You can also email the Platinum One Special Service team directly with your interests which they will keep on file.
Hope to see you at an event soon.

Cheers,
Red Roo

Hello Red Roo,

Thanks for those details. I had guessed that it might work like that and had selected motorsports as an interest in the hope of getting F1 tickets.

But how do you determine where a P1 is based? Is it taken from postal address from the QFF profile? As P1s are travelling a lot, I guess for many of us it is not as simple as being based in one city. For instance although I am based in Brisbane I spend more of my time in Melbourne. Would it be better for me to change my address to a Melbourne one if I wanted Melbourne events? Or is there a way to be based in two cities at the same time?

Hi Richie9x

Based on the number of Platinum Ones at the launch event, we know if the event is something you want to go to, you will travel for it. :) This is why we use the interests in your profile as a first source for selecting members. We will then use the members location as noted in profile. If you emailed the P1 team with your interests, add that you are in Melbourne often and would be open to events there as well as Brisbane.

Cheers,
Red Roo

Thanks Red Roo, I'm sure you'll have sparked a mad rush to the profile pages of P1 members so that they can update their wish lists. I know I've just updated mine!

Now if you could also arrange for P1 members to be able to pre-book Flounge spa appointments (after F and CL members have been booked) then you'll have greatly improved our collective opinion of the P1 scheme... ;)

I initially thought that but on closer inspection, the Padthaway Shiraz was for people paying the $99 fee to join Epiqure. P1 members taking advantage of the free membership were not promised the Padthaway but just a complimentary gift. I agree that as P1s we didn't receive wine to the value of the Padthaway but, then again, we didn't have to pay the $99!

I tried to join as a paid member. The Jacobs Creek or Padthaway wine sounded nice. Unfortunately the system wouldn't let me, and I got a complimentary membership. Not sure if this was because of my international flights being disrupted on 31 Oct, or P1.
Any of these would give me epiQure membership.

Still, somehow I feel I've missed out! The wine I received was 2008 & 2009 Brokenwood. Nice enough, but not fabulous, & not enough to encourage my support of epiQure as a superior experience.

anyone knows how many platinum 1 members are out there

A figure of around 3000 at the launch was mentioned here I think… it’s in one of the threads.

In fact it’s been mentioned at least 3 times in this thread.

I have just done 2 flights as a WP and customer service is better towards WP's than what it use to be.

Lovely service in Y as a P1 on Perth BNE last Friday
CSM made sure I had all the newspapers I wanted. Noise cancelling headphones from J (didn't need so CSM gave to my neighbour), and the offer of a port or liquor after dinner.
Couldn't ask for more in Y.

Like magic, I just now got a call from P1 desk offering two free tickets to the paddock club for the F1. The offer was just for the Friday which is not the best day, but still seems like a good offer, when you consider that paddock club for Friday, Saturday and Sunday normally costs $4000.

Worth the day off then!!!

Similar to the above posts.

Dear Matthias
As a proud Australian, I'm always really excited to get back to my home race. This year, I'd like you to join me on the first day of the 2012 Formula 1™ Australian Grand Prix at a very special breakfast event for a limited number of Platinum One members in the prestigious Paddock Club Entrance Lounge, presented exclusively by Qantas. You are also welcome to bring a guest with you.
Hosted by Network 10’s motorsport expert Daryl Beattie, you’ll get a sneak peek into the world of Formula One racing and the 2012 season. There’s also some other special moments planned, so I really hope to see you there.
In addition to your invitation to this premier event, Qantas would also like to offer you car parking at Albert Park and to extend your Grand Prix experience on Thursday, a ticket for yourself and your guest to the Webber Grandstand*. Of course, you'll be welcome to enjoy Qantas' renowned hospitality at the exclusive Paddock Club Entrance Lounge throughout the day.
Date: Thursday 15 March 2012
Time: 8:30am – 10:00am
Venue: Paddock Club Entrance Lounge, Albert Park, Melbourne
Please RSVP to register your interest to attend by Monday 27 February 2012, by choosing the most suitable option below. Will be interesting to see if any P1 gets paddock club tickets for Saturday (qualifying) or Sunday (the race proper), as these are probably more in demand.

I was offered tickets for Sunday, however I am going to the MB Star Lounge. They have a great position and the catering is the best I've ever had at the GP.

Guys, I'm pretty sure they were going to invite myself and a friend (Florence), however after checking my itinerary they would have realised I'm actually in the UK!

Gave the P1 SST a call tonight, and I couldn't be happier with the service I received. Not going into details, but dad (no status) is flying SYD-BNE tomorrow morning and I wanted to upgrade him to J but was inside the 24 hour "can't be done" window. I initially felt bad for getting the on-call staff member, but when I explained the situation she very quickly got me what I needed.

Is it possible that the normal WP line would have been able to help? Possibly, but I was very happy with the way that my request was dealt with by the P1 SST.

That's great about the sst, i havent needed to call them as yet. but from all accounts sounds useful & indeed a benefit.

I had the same situation about being within the 24hr period for upgrades, which was PHE-PER last week, gave the premium line a call 8 hours before my flight as i just changed it & wanted a decent meal to PER at short notice without paying J prices, premium line was really helpful & informed me that you can request upgrades on the phone right up until 5 hours before depature, its just online you cant request within the 24hr period, which i found really helpful to know  I just hope that is the case & not a one off occasion.
