QF Platinum One - how successful has it really been?

I was booked in 24 yesterday (equip sub moved me to 23) and have 23A for tonight's flight (no free seat next to me).

For all of my upcoming flights I am currently in 25 so will see how many of those change to 23/24 and update in a thread somewhere.

Just moved from 25 to 23 for Wednesday's flight. Thursday evening's flight is at 18:00 so T-80 hasn't opened yet.

And as a follow up - 26 to 24 for the return flight - no empty seats at all in row 23.

I've noticed even in Business unless it's really full there is the shadow? Last 2 flights SYD-MEL on a 737 I was in 1A and 1C was vacant...is this intentional or just coincidence?

Probably a coincidence, Row 1 is normally CL and last to be assigned.

It is hard to know for sure. Although I normally fly in economy on 737s I have had a few business class trips. Usually I have had 1A or 1F. I have one upcoming trip and 1F was selected for me even before I had a chance to choose it - 1A was already occupied. 1C and 1D are showing blocked in expert flyer, but showing available on the online seat selection. I suspect that only P1 and CL are able to select row 1 before T80. I believe platinums can only select row 1 after T80.

When I have sat in 1A or 1F usually the seat next to me is either empty or filled by Qantas staff - this suits me fine.

I usually seem to get row 1 when op-upped.

I also seem to get 'special' seat allocation on partner One World airlines (except LAN domestic, LAN international seems to work)

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

In addition to my detailed post about P1, I have an update.

Today I received the 2x complimentary wines as part of the Platinum One gift from epiqure.
I don't drink wine at all (only french bubbly) - so I really can't comment on how good the wine is or not. It was 2x of these: Brokenwood Shiraz | Dan Murphy's | Buy Wine, Champagne, Beer & Spirits Online

The original promise was for a $130 bottle of the Jacob's Creek 35th anniversary padthaway shiraz, with people joining after stocks were exhausted receiving wines of 'similar value'. Join epiQure | epiQure by Qantas Frequent Flyer

Giving you 2x$20 bottles makes them looks pretty cheap, doesn't it?

(As well as dishonest)

I initially thought that but on closer inspection, the Padthaway Shiraz was for people paying the $99 fee to join Epiqure. P1 members taking advantage of the free membership were not promised the Padthaway but just a complimentary gift. I agree that as P1s we didn't receive wine to the value of the Padthaway but, then again, we didn't have to pay the $99!

all 6 flights (BNE/MEL or BNE/TSV) i've done this year i get a platinum shadow in 1C after selecting 1A at t-80. so stoked, as previously i usually get a subload or deadhead in 1C at about t-15 minutes,

there was 1 flight out of the six where 1C was occupied at take off, and that was a bloke who was in the CL and was moved to earlier flight .... fair enuf

loving this wonder how long it will last

The two I received had a combined retail value of $120 so I didn't feel too bad about it

I have found Platinum One good since it came on stream. It is great to have the email access to someone who usually replies or telephones you back within a couple of hours. When I went Sydney to London in F just before Christmas, the F Lounge called me to check me in and book a Spa appointment for me so that was great. I'm going to LHR again on 8 Mar so I'm guessing I will probably get called again.

I think I did read earlier that the Points Calculator doesn't work for P1s. I actually sent a message to Qantas about this months ago but no joy alas.

Emily,

If you're flying in F, you should be getting a call anyways. Its has nothing to do with being P1.

Actual fact, according to fellow AFFers.....only CL get to book treatments, to be honest which is a load of BS from qf, considering that P1 are bring in the $$$ and CL could be spending a lot less.

I do feel they need to offer something to P1s in cities other than Sydney and Melbourne. Sydney P1s have had the launch function, the Travolta flight and the Dreamliner walk through (IIRC). I'm in Brisbane and we've seen no P1 love so far...

So sorry you have not been feeling the love yet. We continue to work on special invites and events for P1 and are well aware that we also need to have offers for non Sydney/Melbourne based members.

But as an FYI to all Platinum One members. We can not offer you invites if we do not know what you are interested in.

For example. The Grand Prix is coming up in Melbourne in March. If we had any tickets, they may go to Melbourne based members in the first instance but we also would include any members who have put Motorsports as an interest in their profile.

So make sure you profile is up to date! You can also email the Platinum One Special Service team directly with your interests which they will keep on file.
Hope to see you at an event soon.

Cheers,
Red Roo
