Note I am not off QF just yet. This trip offered me a better flight pattern. I needed to be in Jakarta from Wed to Fri. QF does not fly there on a Tues and I am not flying Garuda under any circumstance but QF could get me back on Fri. However SIN could get me there on Tues but not back at the right time on Fri evening. Doing a split ticket was costing too much and SQ J class was a lot cheaper than QF if I had flown them so SQ it is. For me number 1 is my flights getting me to a destination on time, coming home is a secondary consideration. Obviously price is always a consideration. To be truthful I am appalled at the pricing of QF at times. Their low end routes like Jakarta are always over priced. I note that getting the top tier at SQ is a lot harder for accounts but getting to Gold seems a lot easier. I also heard that only First paying pasdsengers can get into their F lounges, is that correct???

Nope, *A Gold can access the First SKL. Only PAX flying in First though can access "The Private Room" (in SIN), this used to be restricted to paying F PAX only, but those on award tickets can now also access it.

See my trip report here for a review on it: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....k-random-travel-between-24971.html#post358592

Interesting. According to SQ:

*The SilverKris lounges in Singapore are not designated Star Alliance Gold lounges. In Terminal 2, please use the SATS Premier Lounge; in Terminal 3, please use the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge.

Interesting. According to SQ:

Correct, Star alliance Gold members cannot access all F lounges, only those with the logo on the front door:

"Star Alliance Gold Customers Travelling in Any Class: Customers have access to any Star Alliance member carriers' owned lounges with the Star Alliance Gold logo at the entrance."

Lounge Access Policy - Star Alliance

A Diamond Club Gold Member would have access in SIN to:

Lounge operator Name Type Terminal Location

singaporeairlines_SQ.png
SATS Premier Lounge SIA Premier Lounge Passenger Terminal Building 2 3rd Floor,
Mezzanine Level Opening times: 24 hrs

Royal Silk Lounge Royal Silk Lounge International Terminal 1 3rd Floor,
near West Immigration

Interesting. So if flying out of T3 you'd need to move to another terminal to use the lounge unless you had Gold status with SQ?

Currently sitting in SQ lounge at MEL opposite QF J lounge and am pleasantly surprised. Neat, small but not over crowded (i am on SQ238) and the food selection is a welcome change (if you loike Asian) which I do. The internet is easy to connect, they have TV's and a business centre. Overall I am quite happy with this setup. It is not F level but meets my needs quite well. (However I do miss my salt and pepper calamari and Dom but one can get used to beign a mere mortal again.) Let's see what the flight experience brings. This has compelled me to write my first TR, so look out for it in the TR section.

I look forward to reading the TR. The lounge sounds similar to Perth in that it was small but did the job.
