On the Qantas website they are currently promoting that trhe flights are inclusive of Meals Drinks and Baggage.

QANTAS DOMESTIC DEALS

My understanding that drinks are only available weekdays and on east west after mid day.

So could some one be under the impression that they will receive this irregardles of day time and flight origin destination OR has QF Finally opted to have full service on every flight every day?

Now that would be a positive enhancement

If Not

Then I suggest that this is false and misleading advertising

What are your thoughts?

Some form of drink is available on every flight - water, coffee, tea, soft drinks etc...

If they say 'meals', then I would dispute that, but they do say 'food'.

Ahhhhhh yes this is true but the glass shown is a wine glass so that would indicate to me that Wine was part of the fare when indeed it is not always the case hence I ask is this misleading? :D

Is someone having their whine for the day?
I don't think you'd get anywhere trying to claim false and misleading considering they do provide other forms of drinks other than booze...

I agree it's a bit misleading. But i'm pretty sure "irregardless" is not a word.

The head of QFd was quoted in an interview as saying a meal - IMO that was misleading. That changed a short while later to food in the official advertising.

Edit: I just checked the Qantas website. This is what is shown:

No words there at all, but I sure as hell would not have needed a knife and fork to eat the corn chips and dip offered on tonights flight. Misleading? Yes/maybe. Am I going to do anything more than whinge on the Qantas facebook page? No.

In terms of drinks "All included" [wine glass] What does that mean?

:rolleyes: it's a symbol!!!! symbols are used everywhere ....now your homework for tonight is to google the definition of 'symbol'

Umm and what does the symbol mean. Perhaps your home work to find the meaning of those symbols as used by Qantas.

Point remains the definition of symbol is irrelevant. Unfortunately, you haven't taught anything. The meaning of those symbols is open to interpretation. You think you know what they mean. But that is only your interpretation.

Just as well they have Cheese and Crackers on the trans-con in place of the ice cream. Goes much better with the whine ;)

They really should be showing a clear plastic cup as the wine glass of choice in Y.

The only legal term I know is 'invitation to treat' and I'm going to say that might be the case here. It's an advertisement not a contract. It's an invitation to enquire further and see the fine print to see if it suits your requirements.

From wikipedia

For an offer to be capable of becoming binding on acceptance, the offer must be definite, clear, and final. If it is a mere preliminary move into negotiation which may lead to a contract, it is not an offer but an invitation to treat. The offerer must have been initiating negotiations from which an agreement may or may not in time result. The important point to note is that, since an invitation to treat is not an offer, but rather a phenomenal preliminary to an offer, an invitation to treat is not capable of an acceptance which will result in a contract.

Mere display of the icons on the Qantas website are not able to form a contract, just inviting the purchaser to explore more while respecting that the intricacies of running an airline cannot be put into context on a display banner

For the record I was offered a glass of wine on a QF J flight last weekend at 8am. I declined.

And now my new phrase for the day is "phenomenal preliminary".

But AU has some pretty strict rules on advertising, and advertising in a way that would make someone believe meals are available on all flights is misleading and thus not allowed. Basically your advertisements must be truthful of what you can get. So saying "but we're not offering a contract, we're inviting people to investigate further" IMHO is not enough to get out of false or misleading advertising.

IMHO using a knife and a fork as an icon for food is drawing a very long bow. The knife and fork icon is typically used to represent sit down meal options, a cookie and a can of coke in my mind does not qualify as a sit down meal.

Now come on, haven't you seen the episode of Seinfeld where it became fashionable to eat your Snickers bar with a knife and fork. Same rule applies to your cookie on Qantas.
