Is the QF IFE the same on all aircraft? I was on a 747 & 330 recently and it was the same woeful selection on each and was wondering if I will have to put up with it on other aircraft as well?

No, it differs, typically the best IFE selections is found on the long haul internationals (aka the A380's / reconfigured B747's), the worst is on the short haul BSI 737's...

Ahhh ok.
I was on QF21/22 on 747 (not sure if reconfigured or not) last month. Is this likely to be as good as it gets currently or would the A380 be a better offering?

Thanks guys.
Yep definitely sounds like I had the old bird as IFE was identical on the 747 and the 330 I took the following week. Good to hear the A380 will have a somewhat better offering.

Wait a second, that page lists three different classes of selection (aka different qty's of movies / tv show / cd's / games) based primarily on aircraft type. So according to QF, the OP's question is yes...
So first question
Is the QF IFE the same on all aircraft?
Is no

Second
if I will have to put up with it on other aircraft as well?
Is yes

I think...

I checked the movies for flights from SYD to Asia, to the USA and to LHR for the month of July and they seem to be identical. The return flights also have the same movies.

Same as the A330 last time I checked.
Nope, according to both the QF doco and my own personal experience, the qty of movies / tv shows etc is much smaller on the B737. Perhaps a reflection of the sized runs it does.

AFAIK All of them I think pick from the same pool of content, it's just the quantity of content actually loaded onto the aircraft is different depending on the installed system / length of flights the A/C type typically does.

Had a couple of flights to/from PER recently with similar selection as East coast flights, don't remember there was much difference. Maybe I didn't pay enough attention.

Not to confuse things, but there are 2 different systems of IFE on the 330's. The 330's with skybeds have the RC system which doesn't have a great reputation (saying that, I have only had it crash on me once and that was 2 weeks ago), yet the domestic 330's have the Panasonic system, which has the larger type screens etc.

The refurb 737s come with Panasonic IFE.
There is no refurbished 73Hs per se (excluding VXC's trial BSI refit). The newer 73H's (from VZL on onwards) feature the Panasonic AVOD IFE system

I always bring an iPad stuffed with entertainment just in case the IFE is disappointing.
