Over my last status year I have not flown at all *gasp!* as such I am sitting at 0 SC.

Next status year I envisage I'll make it to WP again or possible WP1 (What is the short code for this new one???)

Today I looked on QF and saw this!

Has Qantas been nice to me, or is it just a glitch?

Just a soft landing.

If you don't fly at all this next year- then you will just drop to silver.

Well you gave QF a hard decision. To either soft land you at Gold or to wipe you back to Bronze. I suggest that if they did that to you and took away all your FFer benefits, well you might just spend your flight money with VA. Also QF may have assumed you had a VA WP status match and with 12 months to run on that, all your spend would be with VA to retain the status matched WP.

Any other comments?

It is a status comp based on prior flying. I am guessing your average over the past few years would have you over 1200 including 0 this year.

They might be running them early due to VA competition - given this is meant to be a once off you might want to reject it perhaps? Are you LTG?

No. Not LTG. If this is true and not a glitch. It is my 2nd comp. The other 4 years ago.

QF have always done soft landings. Don't make WP and you'll drop to SG. Nothing new..

I think 4 years ago was before the "we only comp once" policy came in.

Even that's a bit soft, I have a colleague who has been 100 ish SC's short of re-qualifying WP for the last 3 years in a row. He generally flys J x2 SYD-LHR every year, knows nothing about AFF  and doesn't chase SC's. Always gets comped. With QF there seems sometimes to be no rhyme or reason, well done v8 statesman :)

Thank you. I still have my doubts. Seems to far out to me. Also last time I was comped I had done a lot of flying and they sent me a e-form to fill in re proposed travel. So far I've heard nothing from them.

This is QF being nice to you as a fallen WP who they are hoping will be back in 2012!

Oh, I do hope QAN are being nice: much like the OP, I too haven't flown at all this year, though am travelling down and back to Melbourne this week. After travelling SYD-LHR 2-3 times a year for the past few years and kept my Wp, hoping (not expecting, given its QAN) in case I don't get to do the RTW in November. Please Alan, show some big love! :)

Agree - just a soft landing, and its nice to know that even with 0 SC's you still get it.

My renewal date is also 31 October, and I have just been comped the the 10 SC's I was short of WP.

Annoying, because I had booked a SYD - CNB on Wednesday to get me 10 SC's and over the line before the comp came through.

I got the same comp at about the same time last year and subsequently earned enough SC's to re-qualify. I don't know whether to trust the claim that the system knows if you then make it to WP by yourself after the comp has been given. Even if it's true, as I will re-qualify with about 1400 SC's by 31/10, I just wanted to click the meter over this year without QF helping me out.

Above from v8statesman:

No Soft landing. I'm Gold this year. Just not updated my profile from last year.

To the people saying it is a soft landing are you not reading this?

I think they are giving it a shot at luring you back. And if they fail, then it's not costing them much!
