QF changed my seat!

To be clear that is Brisbane time.

( If you get row one at least you should get a choice of the lunch options ...)

Hi Guys

Feeling a bit peeved this morning. I am a Qantas cheerleader, always fly them when possible internationally as well as domestic.

See that's the problem, your status as a Qantas Cheerleader doesn't show up on the QF iPads.

Great screen shot - never seen one of those before, even if it is from 2012.
So how does the crew know if you are are a CL + WP1 or CL + VIP?
Last time I saw VIP on a a ticket was 2008 - wonder if QF still use it for anyone.
Also interesting that it lists WP1 higher than CL as being both for several years all BP's were printed as CL not WP1

Sorry to hear this has happened but at least it was the short sector.

Although I don't know for sure, I've travelled from BNE several times in J at that time of day and have been surrounded by QFi crew dead-heading to other cities.
Off topic but I saw something last week I have not seen in ages.

Full business class BNE-SYD Friday night with dead heading crew in 1C. The CSM served her first. I thought dead heading crew are supposed to be served last? Wouldn't want to be a paying customer in row 3 and only soup left.

Staff on leisure travel are served last but duty travel may be different. Will have to ask a CSM at the next opportunity.

Rather than start a new thread, thought I would add on to this one.

So the other day, I flew Qantas in J and had pre-selected seat 4K. Upon checking in, the agent handed me a boarding pass for 5A . I queried this and she told me she couldn't give me 4K as it was taken.

Just wandering if it's normal for your pre-selected seats to be changed like that at check in? Granted, I am but a lowly bronze member. For what it's worth, I was one of the first at check in and the cabin was about 75% full.

This thread got me thinking so I checked our MEL-AKL (QF ticketed) EK flight for next Monday morning and sure enough our seats have changed.

9A has become 7A (Silver FF) and
11A has become 7E (Gold FF)

My Flights does not show the change, the Qantas App shows both seat selections and the Qantas web page shows the 7A & 7E seats.

Weird:!:

Does anyone have any thoughts on good/bad J seats on the EK380:?:

EF shows only a bit under 50% seats allocated.

It's not normal but it does happen. Favours for staff, higher tier frequent flyers, seating families together, change of aircraft are just some of the excuses.

Happens to me more often than I like it to happen but not much you can do about it on the day of travel. Complaining gets you nowhere.

Yes I tell Mrscove she has a window seat 2A on the A330 but when we get the ticket she has a middle seat with me. Sure it is still a lovely business class seat but she has started to wonder why she gets moved from her selection.

I got bounced out of 2K twice on a transcon flight last week, ended up in 4A. Which was on a upgrade me bid.

Then on the return back in my normal Y I pretty much always choose aisle on the centre on the A330 as I find shadows stick more which it did on this case. I got paged in the lounge and asked if I would change to window with someone next to me. No thanks!

The joys of being lowly WP!

They will say they thought you wanted to sit together. They say that even when the new allocated seats are not together. It's what they say. It's what happened to us. Our two single specially selected window seats got bumped and put into a Centre aisle bulkhead - hate - and window bulkhead - hate - but with a different aisle Centre seat in between. Same excuse - er - reason in F lounge - until I pointed out the separation to them. They changed them back.

It's been a while since I've seen duty travel (that I can tell by the uniforms) although when I have, they were served at the same time as other passengers.

I wouldn't say it's normal but it does happen very infrequently, probably less than 5% of the time to me. When it does happen it's a bit jarring hence I'll remember it - I try to get SEQ = 1 with my carefully allocated seat, often with a boarding pass printed the night before, and will just assume my selection has stuck when I try to board the aircraft before suddenly being given a new BP.

Going only off observation, I've seen pilots in uniform served at same time on occasion, but all other staff in uniform (QF or Jetstar) served last.

Ironically seen and chatted with plenty of staff on leisure travel who have been saved at same time. Totally up to the CSM on the day in my experience.

Duty travel is different to any form of concession travel. In that case, the ops department will have 'bought' tickets for the crew. There will be an issue with meals too...the concept of eating different meals applies here.

Any seat selection is not inviolate. On any given day there will be a number of seats that are outright u/s, or that may be serviceable with limitations. A seat may be acceptable for a staff passenger but not a paying one (i.e. won't recline, etc).

I would not want to sit in between some staff on travel as I would treat them as a group and they will be talking over you and all of that.
