QF Boxed Dinners

It may be to stop people setting a preference on a whim. Going out of your way to contact QF would be good discouragement.

But you don't need to go out of your way to request a meal. Just do so in the booking, online.

I get that some would not like to open every booking, but I have to change the preferences for every booking anyway.

The "going out of your way" referred to contacting QF in order to have a meal preference added to your profile, as a standard item, and so not having to remember to order for each individual flight.

The facility is there, in the profile set up - but it can't be accessed by the passenger for an initial registration. Once recorded, pax can change their preference through their profile, however.

Whoever is manning the QF Frequent Flyer email must be on holidays... Will keep you all posted when/if I hear back.

Thai Green Curry tonight, but it sort of looked a bit yellow!!

Just completed 2 "dinner" flights - BNE-MEL yesterday and MEL-BNE tonight, and very impressed with the boxed dinners. A Spanish theme tonight, complete with a "hola" from the flight attendant announcing the choices.

And I do enjoy the nice cold Lindt chocolate to finish off. Good one Qantas.

Hey everyone,

As promised, Just thought I'd give an update regarding the meal preference fiasco on profiles..
A full 3 weeks after sending the email, received a call from QF today to put a preference on my profile.

There is nothing visible for this online on my account, but they were very happy and clarified I wouldn't need to individually manage each booking now.
Long story short..If you need to do the same, call don't email.

Good to hear the follow up report.
Now, the $64 question is:
Can you access the preference and change it online, should you want to?
The website suggest that you will be able to. But..... Can you? :)

Can't access (or view) the preference anywhere on the profile... There is no space for it, unless I'm not looking hard enough.

Have you triedProfile/Flight Preferences/Special Requirements ?
I haven't registered any special requirements, so mine says nothing recorded, but I think that's where you should find yours.

Just like magic, and yep can change my preference online now its been put there. Will be interested to see if this makes any difference on short sectors at dinner times like SYD/MEL etc.

Last night's 463 was a choice of (I think) a vegetarian penne or this "chicken with paella salad". Having snacked in the JLounge I'd already opted for whatever the salad option was. Paella was tasty enough - with a mild chorizo through it - but cold paella is a new one for me and it really didn't work with the separate chicken slices. Would have been far better to have one third of the chicken, broken and integral to the paella together with a little shrimp.

Separate: have QF purchased too many lindor balls? Really wasn't welcome in the week after Easter!!

A plus: the second serving of the shiraz as the litter was tidied away.

Lindor balls are offered after meal service..it's not a 'carryover' from Easter

I realise they're usually offered, UTR. My point is: the week after Easter, the last thing I want as a "treat" is *more* chocolate!

Bangers and mash with peas on Friday night. A little bland.

And then spanish style chicken with polenta yesterday afternoon. Chicken was tasty.

Interesting that a 5:05pm flight on a Sunday was classed as a dinner flight.

Bleeech that cold paella was disgusting and the chicken-loaf pieces have worn out their welcome across multiple dishes also.

Think they do best when they don't try to be fancy and stick to simple things like curries etc.
