Hi guys,

Just a quick one.
Just wanted to confirm that flights on BA earn the same SCs (and FF points) as flights on QF.

Eg: A flight in full economy from SYD-LHR return will earn 240 SC's, regardless of whether it's on QF or BA.

Thanks all. :)

Cheers,
- Febs.

Yes, SC earning is the same for all OneWorld airlines. The only difference is the definition of that fare constitute discount economy and the rates for QF FF points earning for discount economy fares,

Indeed it will. If you are booking a full economy fare, why not book BA World Traveller Plus instead and have a much more comfortable flight.

The cheapest Y fare on QF ( YLE1Y ) is a base fare of $3230 plus tax and fuel fines whilsy the WT+ fares on BA are $3120 for T class and $3456 for W plus tax and fuel fines. This will earn full economy SCs plus 10% Class of Service bonus

I thought CX always shafted QF members when it came to status credits.

They are more restrictive with discount economy - many booking classes do not earn points or SCs

When I've travelled with CX in either J or F they've done the same thing. I think their SC ratio is pretty poor.

Still, I guess they want more people to sign up to Asia Miles.

When travel is on an fare eligable for earning miles, status credit earning is the same as it would be on QF. For mileage earning, QF does not offer status bonuses for travel on CX

QF Status Credits for flying CX flight in business or first class are exactly the same as for a QF flight in the same class.

The difference is in the earing of QF FF points, where the status bonus paid for being Silver (25%), Gold (50%) or Platinum (100%) does not apply to CX flights. It only applies to QF, AA and BA flights.

Thanks guys. Much appreciated as always. :)

... good replies; just note that this ONLY applies to JSA QF/BA flights on the Kangaroo Route.

Flights in discount economy on other BA routes can earn as little as 25% of what one would flying Qantas.
Code:
British Airways GKLMNOQRSV Discount Economy* 0.25 -
(BA) BHY Full Economy 1 -
TW World Traveller Plus 1 10%
                  CDIJ Business 1 25%
                  AF First 1 50%

Status Credits are earned on all eligible booking classes.
*Exception: Travel in Discount Economy between:
                  - Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Melbourne, Perth or Sydney and
London or Frankfurt via Bangkok or Singapore
                  - Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Melbourne, Perth or Sydney and
                  Bangkok or Singapore
                  - London or Frankfurt and Bangkok or Singapore
will earn a Base Rate of 1.

serfty - thanks for that, but it leaves me a bit confused.

According to the table, a B class fare on BA is classed as Full Economy. Does that mean "BA Full Economy", and in terms of QF it's really "Discount Economy"?

All my travel is booked in B class (including a SYD-LHR via BKK on BA)...so I assume that means I'll earn SCs and QFF points @ Qantas' discount economy rates?

Cheers,
- Febs.

.

B class is classed as full economy for mileage earning so earns 100% mileage on all routes on BA , however , since it is not a Y fare basis will only earn discount economy status credits

(On the Kangaroo run, it makes no odds what fare basis you use since all eligable fares earn 100% miles anyway, but on other routes economy fares other than YBH would only earn 25% miles )

If you were crediting to BA, then it would be a Tier Point earning fare and crediting to AA, it would earn 1.5 qpoints per mile and so make a more headway towards status levels. Unfortunately QF elects to treat B in the same way as N et al

You have been caught out like many before you by confusing the QF FF points earning table and definition of full and discount economy for the purpose of awarding QF FF points, with the definition of discount economy for the purpose of awarding QF FF Status Credits. The definitions and tables used are NOT the same.

Which is why, and this point has been made many times before, QFF should simplifying/clarify their wording and tables.
