Applied and approved for the amex qantas ultimate card while still currently holding the qantas amex premium card. Ultimate card arrive last week first spend over the weekend and bonus 5000 points showing today for first spend hopefully thats a good sign the rest will post once i reach the $1500 spend

Applied 2 weeks ago and still waiting. Not even an email with reference number. Rang thursday and got it escalated and apparently will hear back in 48hours from then. Can't see any reason to be declined since I applied for the Westpac Black at the exact same time and have been approved.

Hi all, for what it's worth thought i'd give a quick update on how I went. Did have Plat Amex and Velocity Plat but cancelled Plat Amex due to Accor leaving the program and general lack of value for $1200 annual fee. (side note - Accor told me it was Amex who cancelled the agreement, I had assumed it was Accor) Anyway... Kept the Velocity Plat and applied for the QANTAS Ultimate using an AFF referral. All approved and after minimum spend being reached all points credited this week. Whole process took around 4 weeks.

is 19 days a long time to wait for approval? Already got my Westpac Black cards and thought the AMEX Ultimate would have been approved quicker and easier since I was well inside the criteria.

Hmm, I thought so too. Ive rang 2 or 3 times and the last time they said it was being looked at by approvals team and they hadn't asked for anything yet.
Might ring again tomorrow and push a bit harder.

Applied Sun and iPad timed out during final step awaiting Confirmation of application - thought nothing more of it - card arrived in mail yesterday - no email - no correspondence - just card arrived - god I love AMEX - pts for jam.

Pretty standard for amex. If no black marks on the credit record, and they can verify your identity (and employer via your credit record), instant approval.

Or as is normally the case for me, an "application received" screen, no communication, and a card in the mailbox 3-5 business days later.

Oh no ..... Amex is the most generous credit card provider. No way I will ever try to get a black mark from them .....

yea not too happy about it. Wasn't given a reason over phone but was told a letter had been sent with details.

This all depends on what cards you have held in the past/currently hold.

Many examples of different situations have already been described in this thread. Strongly suggest you take some time to have a read through the existing posts - this wont be a 5 minute exercise.

As a couple of people have said this will depend on which AMEX cards you hold/have held. From anecdotal evidence posted around the place it would see you should be fine provided you don't have a QF AMEX card currently (seems you don't) but of course going strictly by the T&C you are inelligable so YMMV. As a point of reference MrsNoName was ineligible under the T&C but has received her 110k signup bonus for this card.

The most inportant thing to do if you choose to apply is to do it through a referral link so you get 110k pts instead of just 100k. The referrer will get 20k as well so it's a win win.
