Has the 2 x Comp Access to AMEX Lounge component of the benefits for this card been offered as a benefit for previous AMEX offerings? My memory is that 2 x Lounge Passes to QF J Lounges has always been part of the benefits for QF linked cards.

not on the Ultimate-only the Premium. Ultimate has the flight instead

Oh ok - I have never noticed AMEX Lounge Access offered - BTW where is AMEX Lounge? Intl or Dom Terminal? Seems kinda useless to offer a benefit useable in 1 state and in 1 specific terminal only is it not?

I've noticed that one of the requirements for this card state:

I have a personal or household gross (pre-tax) annual income of $65,000 or more

Does that mean I can get my retired family member to apply as we live in the same household and our 'household' income is >$65k ?

Interesting question. I don't remember listing household income for this when i applied - just needed to say zero dependents.

Sure. It does state household income. AMEX have never asked for proof of income in my applications.

How would I go with my spouse who earns basically zero (but I earn 6 figures) applying? We also live in a shared household with her son and DIL and household earn would be very high.

I have tried to apply for a different card for her previously but the T&C's stated personal income.

You had me all excited and went into the link to apply for the wife. Not sure where you found this but the T&C's I see state

Eligibility:

To save time before you apply for your Qantas American Express Ultimate Card, it's best to make sure you can say yes to the following:

  • I am aged over 18
  • I am an Australian citizen or permanent resident or hold a current Business Long Stay Visa (subclass 457)
  • I have a personal gross (pre-tax) annual income of $65,000 or more
  • I have no history of bad debt or payment default
  • And if self employed, I have been trading for at least 18 months or 12 months if I hold an existing American Express issued Card"

Hold the phone. When you start the application it does state personal or household on the first page.

One of the questions it asks is what is your spouse's income so that will cover it off. I'd be interested to hear the outcome of someone with $0 income applying.

I have been accumulating Velocity points and the "household income" post on here sent me to take a peek at what the Velocity platinum T&C said. Happy to say that they say the same thing. Put down housewife (but put in $15000 for her income and mine at 90K ) Approved in 60 seconds and stated cards on way in 5-7 days.

Worked for us. Tried previously with zero when the T&C were personal income and knocked back.

Yeah, just SYD Int'l.
Doesn't everyone live in SYD?

Whilst it is a Qantas AMEX it is still an AMEX and the benefit mentioned is AMEX Lounge offering not QF - I find it difficult to fathom that AMEX are that dumb that they do not see the inequity here.

Correct.
111,870 points just swept to QF.
My recently cancelled card is still visible (as cancelled) alongside my new card online .
Wonderful,isn't it.
Now to do the same with the wifes card and grab another referral from her on top of the next bonus.

How often do the points take to sweep across? I've made the initial spend and will soon make the minimum spend. Hoping the points sweep quickly!

monthly, should be a couple of days after statement date

probably silly Q, but when they say you should be a new member: westpac gave me an amex black, but I never joined Amex directly. Does the westpac card mean I'm not eligible? I think technically the westpac card is better as I get 1.5 point for basic purchases whereas this one is 1 point, but the 100K points bonus is pretty sweet.

You are definitely eligible. Bank issued AMEX doesn't count as being an existing customer. Don't just get 100k points though, use a referral link (mine if you like) and get 110k points (referrer will get 20k as well so win win).

There is a thread for referral links for this card here:

Unclear of what you want confirmation of? That you will get the sign on points? If so no one can give you this.
