My daughter joined the QC through her employers corporate scheme about 3 weeks ago.

She flies often, but has never been upgraded (except using points).

Last week she checked in for a flight from MEL to SYD and was told she'd been upgraded (no explanation). The mid-morning flight was by no means full in economy, but there was only 1 seat remaining in business.

Could the upgrade have had anything to do with her recent QC membership ?

Anyone else had a similar experience ?.

Err nope.

I joined QC through my employer earlier this year, and have never received an op-up. I even make sure I pick up my boarding pass in the QC rather than the kiosks or online check-in, and still never been upgraded.

I'm assuming shes either a Silver or a Bronze level FF if she had to get QC membership - so shes done quite well to get given an upgrade.

Well I am into my 15th year of my QP life membership and am still waiting for my first upgrade on QF.
Have receved an upgrade on AA-no status there and some years ago on US Air when on a QF codeshare.Have even been given exit row on DJ without asking. But QF.No matter it is the lounge that I was after anyway.

I haven't travelled around as much as drron and have had an upgrade on one occasion only and that was when Y was well and truely overbooked. I know of at least 5 people being upgraded on that flight.

I was once asked to change flights to accommodate connecting international passengers. As an offset, I was offered an upgrade on the later flight. Only problem was I was already booked into J!

I took a bottle of good red as a consolation.

Dec 24th 1994; B class booking, 8 weeks old QP membership, upgraded to J on an old Qantas airbus :D

The above happened to me and I could understand; aircraft was oversold.

With the OP, perhaps it's part of Qantas' recent generosity to NB & PS ... (QP NB as well).

My very first QF op-up was a flight from FRA-SIN just after I have gained silver status - gained incidentally on the SIN-FRA leg the previous week.

Was at FRA airport before QF check-in had opened so was one of the first to check-in.

As another coincidence ran into a old business associate at FRA while waiting to check-in. Both of us had silver status and QP membership and were both given op-up to J due to oversold flight
