The lady who greets you as you walk in stressed to me that I can order anything from the menu as often as I like.
To put it to the test, I ordered the lamb rack followed by the beef tenderloin.
From the expression on the waitress' face I knew she didn't like that order. So much so she didn't ask me if I wanted a drink.
A few minutes later another staff member came up and asked me to choose either one of the meals as they only have limited stock he said and they expect to be very busy later (this is 5:15pm local time). Yes it does get busy when the Qatar flight crowd arrives.
At least he then asked if I wanted anything else instead and then offered if I wanted anything to drink.
Oh well, such is life in the 'free' tucker world.
Lamb rack was beautifully cooked as usual.

I had a similar experience. They also asked where I was flying so I lied and told them I was on the Doha flight which I think made it better

Out of curiosity, did they then sit you in the section to the right of the bar after that tiny little buffet spread?
The few times I've been there, I've observed all the Arabs or middle eastern in looks are seated in that section, everyone else in the section left of the bar.

Been in there plenty of times on QR flights and other carriers and never once been directed to a side or found staff rude, food selections different etc

No, staff have never been rude, just this last visit, the older Filipina did not seem to like me ordering those 2 mains.
In all your visits, you haven't been escorted to a table? That would be neglectful; left to wander in on your own. I guess the staff must have been busy.

We get escorted to a table but always asked if we have a preference for seating area
