QANTAS's domestic sale(s)

Yes, that travel window is v inconvenient :( I need to go to BNE the month before, which of course is still ridiculously expensive by comparison.

Maybe the inter-capital prices are sharp but there is nothing special about the prices between PQQ & SYD.

It looks to me like SYD/PQQ isn't actually on sale as there isn't an icon next to the price like the others.

Good on QF for launching something like this. Their sale prices haven't been that great of late.

I have to say that the airfares are quite low. Would this suggest that QF forward sales are not that good and this is around the 3rd sale in the last couple of months for the same period.

Unfortunately I will be overseas in June so a very small window for me but BNE-ADL at $105 each way for Ozfest looks great....

These are some of the cheapest fares I have seen from QF for a while

$69 MEL-SYD
$169 MEL-PER

:)

Hope they repeat this sale and prices for other travel dates :)

It has to be a good sale, most people are on holidays and will need extra motivation to log on and keep the Qantas tills ticking over.

I'm currently seeing some sale fares for Late July to Early Spetember.

ADL-SYD $99, interests me most.

That's pretty damn good..

I haven't flown with Qantas for a long time.. just don't see the point in paying twice as much for a domestic flight.. Always found Virgin to be reasonable.. and more consistent..

But with $99.. can't go wrong!

But then Jetstar is offering $69 for the same route in the same time period. Big choice for me to decide if the lack of lounge access meaning no paper and paying for coffee on my morning flight, and/or paying for snacks and internet before evening flights is worth $30.

Plus my travel estimates mean making platinum with Qantas this year.

Ahh, see these are things I have never thought about!

Never thought of lounge access.. or food for a domestic flight.. buying food at your destination just always seemed the way to go?

And.. I've never really used my memberships to gain something.. haha?

Oh dear.. I'm probably the customer the airlines hope for!

But.. if they are the extras that make you happy.. it'd be obviously a Qantas flight..

But, if you just want to get to where you're going.. I'd save the $ and spend it when I walk out of my destinations airport!

Well first thing, I stuffed up - jetstar has the $69 airfare ADL-SYD not virgin. Opps. (edited previous post)

Otherwise, I agree with you entirely about saving the money. I guess as I'm current living in one city and working in another so my flying is more like the bus to work. I do find it a bit nicer to sit in the lounge beforehand sometimes, especially as I have nothing better to spend the money on.

Well it's always a different story when it's you way to work!

I'd go for the lounge option too if I was sitting around an airport more than once a month!

Looks like qantas has responded to the virgin sale. ADL-SYD for $115, not exactly a match for the virgin price.

But this has me wondering if I should hold out for cheaper from Qantas. Or perhaps not dropping the price closer to virgin shows that qantas is unlikely to drop lower. I only have 1 flight to get in july and then September so it doesn't really matter. But I'd value any opinions.

If they’ve already dropped the price to a set level then it’s unlikely to go further, that said, there could be a different sale in the future that drops to a different level, but for July, you’re cutting it a bit short. The next sale might be for further into the future than a couple months.

Historically they don't do so. They regard themselves as having a product premium over Virgin Blue, and as a result can charge a premium. There is plenty of evidence to suggest they are correct in their belief.

Thanks for the thoughts. Looks like I'm going with virgin blue in July.

I did realise QF have a price premium but their sales have been rather random this year. I locked in a lot of my flights around easter school holidays early on QF and DJ. Then QF released a later sale for dates that included a big chunk of the holiday peripd and for a about $10 cheaper. I current lot of flights were locked in at $99 each way, I was just wondering if they might do the same again, extend the flying period and drop the sale price from the $115 closer to $99. (I probably should have added all this to the other post)

But I'd say not.

QANTAS Domestic Kick Off Sale on now.

They're not kidding when they say availability is limited. All my 6am Mondya flights are close to double the sale fare, during the sale period. Guess they have decided it is a popular flight. Looks like I'll be getting some time up with DJ.
