Qantas You

May I ask: Where on the aircraft will the name go, and what happens to the original "name" of the aircraft (Nancy-Bird, Reg Ansett, City of.... etc)? How long will the winners name be on the aircraft for?

They aren't "renaming" the aircraft, but putting a big bunch of names on a couple of them in addition to the standard Qantas livery.

Whilst it would be easy to be cynical, I hope the new campaign also takes on board some of the perceived failings of the recent past and acts on improving them - so actually living up to the "promise".

Any good big marketing campaign (I wouldn't go so far as to call it a rebrand) should be accompanied by improvements, where necessary, in the brand experience. Let's hope so, anyway.

I quite like it,
simple.. connecting
although it lacks the classic airline spirit of flying ads

Would love Qantas to do a retro set of themed ads, complete with a retro jet livery (ideally on the A380)

That said, is a helluva lot better than that coughpy Etihad Why campgain - big jet carrying banner over beach that little kid reads - the shots dont look realistic, the kids voice is horrible, and who "switches to" an airline, its not a Bank!. I have flown about 15 different airlines in the last 8 years, none of them Etihad.

Downloaded the app.

While the campaign is never going to appeal to everyone, I like it and hope it goes well. Also second that it would be good for it to be accompanied by improved customer experiences - not just fluff.

I had my picture knocked back because I had a glass of beer in the foreground.

To be honest RedRoo, that is a bit poor, as under the condition that it is covered by it is not illegal nor offensive is it? PC gone a bit far perhaps

Or they're just trying to focus the campaign on YOU?

IF they were brave and wanted to know what YOU thought and what the real spirit of their Australian passengers is these marketing gurus would go down to any airport today and ask while the computer check in systems are down nationally (and perhaps internationally) ...

seriously, it's a bus with wings and the bus is getting more cramped and expensive.

Qantas drumming up a bit of a the loyalty pot ! And I like it :p

Get your name on a plane, be part of the Ad Campaign or (even better) win points.

Who thinks its going to work?

Won't work for me but I know what will, a comped year as WP right now will do so very nicely ;)

The 'ns' added to 'Spirit of Australia' keeps drawing my eye as a spelling mistake!

Nothing at all!

This is the photo I uploaded (well, a cropped version of it) ... note this is in my good-going-out high vis, not my knockabout orange high-vis. ;)
(the mo was also temporary ...)
