Qantas You

Hmm...it looks like there are some issues with the website, like LadyC, I only managed to get a blank page when I clicked on the link. :(

Having said that, I believe it is an interesting (and different) promotion from QF. :)

A lot of people have been able to get on to the site so keep trying but I have also alerted our website team to look into it as a few of you have had issues. Thanks for letting us know though.

Cheers,
Red Roo

I'll be fascinated to see who Qantas ends up picking as the "faces of Australians" This will really show how in touch with their market segment they are.

RR, for your webmaster - I'm blank paging as well via work PC (internet explorer browser) but works perfectly well on my ipad via safari.

Is there any way to change our photos?

I uploaded a nice photo of myself, but then found a pic of me in the First Lounge with a big cheesy grin on my face. (look scruffy after the CBR-SYD though), was thinking of changing it.

Does Qantas prefer dressed up but nothing to do with QF, or scruffy in QF F Lounge haha

Tempted to enter a photo in all my high vis gear in a J lounge, purely for the pleasure of some posters here :D

It might be very appropriate given what % of income is attributable to the resources and construction sector.

I like that the total now raised for Mission Australia is $2,385 :):):) don't know that my name or mug will get too far, but at least have achieved something positive yay..!!!

Looking forward to the inevitable response: "Qantas: you're the we reason we fly... Singapore Airlines"

Seriously, what an unbelievably cough campaign...

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

May I ask: Where on the aircraft will the name go, and what happens to the original "name" of the aircraft (Nancy-Bird, Reg Ansett, City of.... etc)? How long will the winners name be on the aircraft for?

Whilst it would be easy to be cynical, I hope the new campaign also takes on board some of the perceived failings of the recent past and acts on improving them - so actually living up to the "promise".

I quite like the new AA ad / safety demo which uses images of staff at work with a fast paced visual. The human face of AA. Works for me.

So would imagine the faces of Australians who fly Qantas would hold the same appeal.

Having said that, I do hope the traditional QF ad with Peter Allen's song, the sweet voiced choir & sweeping vistas is still retained in some way. "I still call Australia home" has become sort of a homing call for a lot of travelers. On my first trip the the US, where I felt like a stranger in a very strange land & had a harowing time, it was playing softly in the background as I went to check-in for my flight to SYD. I instantly felt safe for the first time in a couple of weeks. Will never forget the impact.

Here are some names I suggest we nominate:

Jeeth Starre
Ewon Hanse-mant
Seengha Poora
Miss Manarged
Wynn Jing
Qew Reed
Subsy Diced

And especially for AFF'ers:

Hiy Vizi

Na, the perfect name to register under,

"Richard Branson"

Zero points for originality. Coke 'share a coke' and Bonds 'birthday project' both created high-profile 'your persona on our product' campaigns in the last 12 months.

Maybe this is why the agency behind this work has been fired, and this campaign is their last hurrah.

Personally I think this promotion is a crock of poo. You can't say 'you're the reason we fly' while adopting a business model that allows for the stripping-back of customer benefits in favour of the bottom line.

If I'M THE REASON YOU FLY, then don't steal bathrooms on the A380 to cram in more economy seats. Don't change beer 'o clock from noon to 2pm in the Qantas Club just to save a few bucks. Don't give Jetstar the 787's first, and have us make do with the rickety old 767's for years to come.

The reason you fly is to try and give a return to shareholders, and line your own pockets. Prove otherwise through actions, rather than words, and I'll believe you.

Hi Storyteller,

Don't worry. 'I still call Australia home' is not going away completely. We have a new campaign but we will still continue to use this overseas and for special events in Australia. I agree with you, so nice to hear it when away from home!

Cheers,
Red Roo
