I had a chat with one of the Qantas Wine reps today, who informed me that they have a referral program. I wasn't aware of this so thought others may also be interested.

Apparently, if you've never ordered from Qantas Wine before, spend at least $350 over the phone on your first order and quote the QFF number of the person who referred you, both you and the referrer get 5,000 bonus Qantas points. (That's on top of any points you'll earn on the wine purchase.)

You have to order over the phone to use this offer.

Cannot bring myself to ring any arm of Qantas again unless necessary 😡
QF Wines are literally standing by to take your call - no wait at all.

There are real people who get bonus points for speedy service.

Perhaps except when you call about a problem with wrong item delivered. I did that yesterday at 6pm and waited half an hour to talk to someone who sounded, surprise surprise, like they were not in Aus
That said, today I got notice they would ship the item again. We’ll see how I go in this Qantas lottery

To be fair, I suspect the Australian based QF Wine Sales team work normal office hours (maybe late night shopping on Thursdays but I’m not sure).

But at least you got an out of hours response. If I was going to a bricks and mortar store after closing hours to complain, I’d be setting myself up for disappointment.

You seem keen to defend Qantas. I called a phone number they directed me to that has no hours attached to it and no message saying I had called out of hours
You also imply I set myself up for disappointment but I did not call “after closing hours” as they did not publish any open or closed hours and in fact took my call.

This thread is about a referral offer available from the Australian based QF Wine reps.

It’s unfortunate you had a mix up but as I said, at least you were able to sort that out.

When I called this morning, I got through immediately to somebody in NSW who was very helpful.

I do find it interesting how easy Qantas makes it to buy wine compared to booking or changing an actual flight!
Yeah, ironically wine delivery isn’t (or shouldn’t be) time critical but you can easily order an extra doz by calling (I’ve actually had stuff arrive next day 🤫).

I was under the impression that your referral gets 5000 points, but you don't get anything for the referral.

I was told the same as @Mattg when I rang to use a voucher a couple of weeks ago.

Seems like a rather small referral bonus for $350 spend, unless you were deadset on an item with them - though slim pickings personally.

This is in addition to any other base & bonus points.

E.g. I put in an order for $350 the other day which came with ~18,000 QFF points. The referral bonus would have been in addition to this.

I called today for this offer for my wife to use the referral from me. They said that the 5k points would not go to to me as well, only to her, as I had previously bought a wine offer on the phone (called UTC - Under the Counter) a few months back, and hence i would have to spend $350 as well in order to get my 5k. Does this sound right? She asked her supervisor but would not budge on that.

I don't know the answer, but what's the point of a referral offer where you don't get a bonus if you're an existing customer? Why would they only expect someone who's never bought wine from Qantas to refer someone else?

Well it is fine unless the referrer has ordered UTC before, she says, and then you don't get the 5k, only the new person gets it. But why should the referrer be excluded - as you say, they should be incentivised to refer people.

Is this still a thing @Mattg? Just chasing a few points for PC. I've never ordered wine from QF before but have a $50 voucher from PC last year. I assume the 5000 points that I would get would be because I've not ordered before?

Ta heaps.

I haven't heard anything further (either way) since posting this thread.

You could always call them and ask. Calling just after 9am seems to work well :)

@JessicaTam perhaps this thread can be moved to the Referral thread? I can't see one there for Qantas Wine. A referral, which can only be done over the phone, would involve stating ones QFF number and possibly name too.
