Qantas Wine latest offering

Slightly O/T but can anyone suggest a nice dessert wine from the Epiqure selection at all? I know nothing about this type except that they are tasty.

The De Bortoli Noble One Botrytis Semillon 2009 is as good as it gets. Consistently the best Australian Sauternes style wine. The Vat 5 is a step down but pretty good value for money. The Vasse Felix Cane Cut is also a decent drop.

Quick check of the wine fridge and including today's 06 WB Black Label, I have 5 bottles of the WB now, 2005 (3) and 2006(2), as it has been included in some other deals over the past couple of years so never paid for it. Offers it has been included did not have an inflated price from it's inclusion though, so no I wouldn't pay that. Dan's has it priced at around $115 a bottle. It was included with the Yering Station 07 Shiraz Viognier six packs being sold at $155.94 with the 05 WB Black label included and 2,000 bonus points on a 12 bottle buy as well. I think I bought the deal a couple of times as the Yering Station 07 Shiraz Viognier was a very nice wine, kept some of that downstairs too as I really like it.

I can vouch for the Brokenwood Wade Block being very good, bought some direct from Brokenwood a couple of years ago. Not sure what the Giant Steps Merlot is going to be like though, I think that will be the actual tester in the pack.

Epiqure should do a mystery pack that one person will get containing a bottle of Grange or something of the likes, It think I saw Cellarmasters doing something like that on their Mystery dozens.

but you wouldn't seriously pay that for WB would you?

I just need a $300 bonus point offer and I can nab it. First membership year runs out in April and I have 11 bottles to go...

+1 on the Wade Block

Langtons do this on their mystery dozens - they advertise 1 in 10 has a bottle of Grange. However the dozen price is $600. That said, there's been some great stuff in the boxes I've received.

I'm going to use it next Tuesday to sample some wines that I have read about from other members here, but doubt I will purchase. If one buys from the pop-up cellar, cartons that are on the website with bonus points, I presume that one won't get the bonus points as the purchase is not made through the website. So if there are any showing in todays offers, I'll be sampling on Tuesday then buying online. Still, it gives QF much needed revenue....

Ah, you didn't mention that salient point in your post. Interesting to know.

There is obviously variation in the cases I had about 8 the same ( including the WB) & 4 different . Don't ask me to list them though as I've already had 3 & the rest are in the wine fridge (which I bought to allow me to keep some wines & allow them to mature lol that hasn't worked out)

In english please?

Not meaning to be rude with my last comment either, what do you mean that you got 8 of the same though and 4 different? Yes I think they all included the Wolf Blass however all my other wines in the case were different

Sorry was talking about the mystery case they were doing & the fact that they are slightly different but presumably all include the 2006 Wolf Blass to bump up the RRP.

Same as the list published here I suspect.
