Qantas unveils the biggest changes to status in program history

But QF can and will remove Chairman’s lounge access (if one/more at the company had that) if the company is no longer spending enough even if the execs fly QF and keep e.g. SG/WP/P1
No doubt. However my experience has been that travel policy is strictly enforced for the peons, whereas those senior tend to do whatever they want. Whether or not execs have CL, I doubt they’d be forced to adhere to this new policy. Besides I doubt Jayne would be invited anytime soon.

Right - I’m sure it has nothing to do with the fact that Jayne Hrdlicka is the new CEO and Managing Director of Endeavour Group… 🙄
Absolutely not. Nor that she still has a stack of shares locked up.

In my view it would be a very brave Endeavour Executive who continued to book QF flights on the corporate tab simply to retain status and privilege with QF/OW now that the corporate account has gone to VA.

So people are getting their Points Club renewed for 2 years until 2028 if they’ve already started a new membership year this year?
Probably a better question for the PC thread, but that's the hope! I qualified PC+ earlier in the year and that will run until the end of Aug 2027... but, I also have EDR value and other transfers planned plan to lock in PC in my first month (Sep) of the new membership year, and hopefully that will add a PC membership year, pushing it to Aug 2028.

Not quite, it's people who have membership years that start before the changes - if they can qualify before the cut off date (yet to be announced), they will keep the benefits until 2028.

Anybody with a current PC membership today has it until at least 2027, and if they requalify they'll get it an extra year to 2028. This is completely normal and not a special gift from QF. This is how most annual status programs work - it just sounds a long way until the future, but if this was an ongoing program you'd have to requalify in 2027 to extend it another year to 2029.

I must admit, now that there are almost no wide bodies on domestic routes, there isn't much reason to prefer QF.
I remain with them for one reason and one reason only; their OneWorld membership.
OWE is still worth more than any status with Virgin.

Apologies if this is up thread, but is there any date for the status credit rollover start? Also, just to be clear, if you are silver - which to requal is 250 and you have 260 for the year - it is 5 that get rolled over? I wonder how it works for lifetime silver - which figure will be used 250 or 300(the latter is the attain for the first time figure)

No data has been announced for when the rollover will begin. When it does being it will be based on the excess over the attain goal for the tier. Noting, of course, that the attain and requal amounts will be the same. For Silver it will be 25% that rollover.

End result, it will be 25% of the excess over 300 Status Credits.

At post #710, @Mattg suggested 12 mths notice for new thresholds and presumably rollover SCs.
I'm hearing that, once Points Club is removed, the ability to earn status credits on Classic Rewards will be unlocked through one of Qantas' credit card partners.

Also, I'm expecting that Qantas will give at least 12 months of notice before increasing the "retain status" thresholds to match the "attain" thresholds. This means that, if you're currently trying to renew status for this membership year, you can expect that you'll only need the lower "retain" amount of status credits. The new, higher retain thresholds are likely to come into effect in late 2027, with an exact date to be announced later this year.
With no announcements due until “late 2027”, I’m working on the assumption I’ll have the existing threshold come 01 Aug 2026 and zero rollover (other than PC+). At some point QF will spill the beans on the full details and for me, those changes kick in from 01 Aug 2027 (but no rollover until Jul/Aug 2028). But at least I’ll have 6+ months to plan.

Anyone with an anniversary date in Q4 of 2026 might have think quick on their feet or have already been planning towards the revised thresholds/rollovers starting in their next member year.

I followed your logic on availability of delayed use of rollover (1 Aug 2028 for 1 Aug 2027 with new threshold), but not the quoted text. For a Q4 announcement, no behaviour change re SC accumulation will be necessary until calendar 2027, I think?

I'm 1 March '27 for my next new year, so am assuming surplus SCs until then are wasted and anticipating even those until March '28?
