Qantas to No Longer offer a Points option for Loyalty Bonus

Slightly off topic, but do SC earned on an Emirates flight with QF ticket contribute to loyalty bonus? I think they do, but not certain.

QF ticket, but MUST have QF codes. An EK code flight only earns points.

Eff. 15SEP25 - 50SC will be automatically added to the SC tally for the FF once the FF reaches 500 Original SC (& for every 500 Original SC until 2000 Original SC per membership year). The option to select 8000 QFF points is no longer offered.

And, effectively for those that aim to qualify for P1, the 50SC per 500 Original SC no longer counts towards the 3600SC.

What about those aiming to qualify for WP/SG/PS - would the 50SC per 500 Original SC count towards the 1400SC/700SC/300SC?

It’s 2400 QFg SCs.

It’s easier to get P1 and gift WP than to get this bonus to gift SG, except if you never earn any DSCs or other non-flying QF SCs.
Did a lot of flying (acc. to my standards) in 2023-24, earning approx. 2900SC, but most of those earn were with DSC. I did not know that only the Original SCs counted towards that 2400SC WP Bonus - later realised it when keenly reading the T&Cs.

Yes, For PS-WP, any SC by any means count towards qualifying, as long as you have the 4 ~ (QFg marketed) flights.

Also yes, Loyalty Bonuses will be useless for P1 other than lifetime status.

Maybe it’s aimed squarely at preventing people from “pre-loading” SC in their new member year?
That's what I do. By the time I get my last bonus I have already qualified foe my next year. If I can't hold off the bonus SCs, they would be well...Pointless!

Would the general consensus be that any loyalty bonuses earnt between now and September 14th would be subject to the old arrangement (i.e. choice of points or SC + 90 days in which to select the award)?

I have one currently showing the option to choose by some date in November, I think. In two minds what to do about this.

Yes.

Quite frankly I expect a backflip but we’ll see.

I'd like to think that would be the case. Guess we'll see soon enough. I'm expecting 2 loyalty bonuses by SEP 3rd and am planning to try and hold them over to OCT 1st. We'll see how well that works soon enough.....
