QANTAS to launch their own credit card in tie-up with Citibank

Geez, I was going to grab one of these for myself and mrs rock, but from what it sounds like on this thread it's going to be way too much of a hassle at present. I might just hit up the St George card or the ANZ Black.

If Qantas up there game along the lines with Virgin's card of the 120,000 possible bonus points though, I'll definitely be reconsidering.

Happy churning all.

I'll PM you later today with info on what I did next to get to a successful outcome.

Indeed, but this appears to be a standard operating practice for Citibank.

I received your information, thank you.
Replied late last night, hopefully you have received it.

While it's clear Citi can be terrible to deal with, they aren't bad for everyone- I suspect disgruntled members post more, and louder then others who didn't have any major hassles. My application went pretty smoothly with the exception of a 3-4 minute strange phone call asking about my address decades ago. I posted my experience here at the time because it seemed strange but there were no other issues- bonus points posted quickly - I will happily take more points from them in the future.

This is similar to me. Applied around 10 days or so ago. Call the next day with a few random questions including an old address. Card arrived yesterday.

I held the citibank Emirates card a few years back when I was flying EK regularly and I always found citibank quick and easy to deal with on the phone and never had an issue with them. They waived the annual fee for me every year on my card as well when I called up looking to cancel.

+1 here also, my signup was incredibly painless.

Because we don't get a salary sometimes credit card companies can battle with that. Retail credit card companies can be pretty weak at analyzing your applications.

Would apply for this or the VA card to get the huge sign up bonus but concerned I will be rejected since Citi manage both card and I have $58k limit on Signature.

Yep just had the call; with a phone number 02-8027-24**

They asked about random questions that you put on the form, and quizzing me about previous addresses, as I had lived in Fremantle for a year and somewhere I had used my parents address for my American Express and that obviously showed up somewhere.

Hard to hear but got there.

UPDATE

Received a 2am sms/email to advice that my application has been approved. :D

Thank you all for your help, suggestions and encouragement to keep going.

Not an experience I would like to repeat !!

Just have to book that holiday now nana

I threw my hat into the ring for this card last Sunday. Heard nothing until yesterday afternoon, when I received a 'phone call, asking for a second pay slip to be e-mailed to them (as others have experienced, even though two payslips were uploaded during the application process).

Yet to hear anything further, but when I checked the progress online I got the dreaded "Something went wrong" page. :(

Does anyone know how soon after the $3000 required spend do the bonus points post to the QFF account?

My experience is as follows:

I applied, was approved, card arrived, and I was charged the annual fee the next day - before I had made a purchase on the card
I spent $3k+ during the next billing cycle, points and bonus points posted on second statement, a month and a day after receiving the card.

as always YMMV

Just a couple of data points on this:

My wife spent >$3k prior to her first statement, and got the bonus points on the day her first statement was issued, along with the points earned directly through her spend during that month.

I also spent >$3k prior to my first statement, but I have only received the points earned directly from my spend during this month - no 60,000 bonus points yet. It's a bit strange, but I assume the bonus points will appear next month.

I have just got the first statement for this card.. I haven't reached the $3000 spend yet, but did notice something unusual.
My spend about approx 2,050 but I only got about 1350 points transferred to my QFF, so a difference of about 700
I assume that the annual fee won't count for points, but that is only $149, which leave a difference of 560 points, so is there something else I am missing. I assumed it was 1 point for $1. All my purchases were in Australia, the only thing I can think of is that some was via PayPal, However I added up the PayPal purchases and it is still about $450 worth, so there is still some discrepancies.

I checked the terms and can't see if some items (utilities, insurance) count for less points.
Am I missing something, or am I blind.

Thanks

You don't receive points on Aust Post, ATO, Rego, Rates, Parking Metres, Tolls or public transport. Could one of these be your answer?

What Jacques Very said is correct. Also, some spend categories earn at 0.5 pt/$. And one other thing, have you looked at the points earn per your statement, or what has actually appeared in your QFF account? The statement will show you how much you've earned in total, but I found that my points have appeared in my QFF account in three different tranches, separated by a few hours: (i) points from domestic spend; (ii) points from international spend and (iii) bonus points (i.e. the extra 1 pt/$ spent on QF flights in my case). So if you're looking at your QFF activity statement, it might just be that tranches 2 and/or 3 haven't appeared yet.
