Im sure it will be a revolutionary new product
haha You bet me to it!

Let me guess how it's going to be revolutionary... you buy stuff with it but you don't have to pay them back for ~44 days. And you earn points on every purchase! Amazing!

A decent sign on bonus with maybe no annual fee for the first year would be enough to keep me happy :)

They should make it like the CX Elite credit card.
Fee free if you have status, plaza premium lounge access.

I highly doubt that. QF loves charging their additional fees for the privilege of earning those 'valuable' QFF points. After all, on many bank issued credit cards, you're charged an annual 'opt-in' fee to convert from the regular rewards program to a direct QFF sweep.

I am also cynical about how good this product will be; QF are doing this to advantage them, not us...

however there is always hope that if they're avoiding (more or less) the whole co-branding stuff and other bank offerings they can still offer up something generally above the avaerage of what is currently out there.

I can also see incentives having a role in this as in incentive to go to this product - like SC's or extra bonus points or fee free for QF bookings, or whatever it might be.

We await and see but like most others here I'm not exactly holding my breath! Still, one can always be surprised :)

A real surprise would be an annual retention bonus. The sign-up bonuses the banks offer just encourage credit card churn.

They could be doing this to try to put pressure on the banks not to slash the points they'll buy as much as they otherwise would assuming QF offers a good deal on their own card.

I think a few of the expectations here are a little unrealistic. All they need is a decent sign-up bonus, 1:1 points earning and a reasonable annual fee and that, as well as their brand awareness, will be enough to get a lot of customers.

Agree to your point though I think the pretty common bonus point on QF spend will probably be in play

The capping of points could be the deal maker or breaker for many (along with annual fee). If this card is supposedly geared to frequent travellers and the like you'd hope there would be no, or at least a reasonably high cap. I won't hold my breath

(it occurs to me they could "bundle" such things into a multi tear pricing model if they wanted - eg: $99/year for example gets 2500/month at 1:1, $149/yr gets say 7500/month at 1:1 and $199/yr gets unlimited... or whatever. This could potentially apply to other options)

In fact I'd consider a product that allowed one to bundle options into it to be a real evolution.

Imagine if you could pick and choose options - eg some people might opt for low or zero foreign currency fees and bundled travel insurance, while others might opt for 2.5point/$ spend or whatever - all for a price of course)

That's a side thought. I wouldn't expect anything like that to pop up on Monday.

The word is that it is a premium card, so will be priced accordingly. They may offer a lounge access option for purchase in the card fee or some other QF specific benefits (perhaps no card fees on flight purchases).
What will be interesting is how it stacks up for an SG or above who won't benefit from any lounge access. We'll all find out on Monday I guess!

Mostly seems to be a never-ending wish list. I'm starting to look forward to Monday to put us out of our misery. :p

As am I. Hopefully the points arrive fairly quickly too (think Amex more so than Citibank...) as I need them prior to July 31st when I'll loose WP and thus lose the ability to open up awards. Also, I need a points-earning non-Amex card so that I can cancel my NAB card since they've been so frustrating to deal with.

What I would like to see is a card for the 'true' frequent flyers. QF have the opportunity to focus on (or shackle) their 'best' customers with their own card.

Highlights would be -
a) No lounge access - 'true' frequent flyers earn this anyway.
b) No bonus SC - 'true' frequent flyers earn their SC in accordance with the current SC earning criteria.
c) Status bonus on all points earn - as per flights with 50% bonus for PS, 75% bonus for SG and 100% for WP and above.
d) No CC surcharges on QF/JQ/3K bookings.

Most bank issued cards have 'benefits' that cannot be used by 'true' FF who have earned them anyway. Get rid of them all and just pay maximum points....

Completely agree. Get rid of everything, including insurances, and just provide maximum earn rate.

Instead of free wine bottle with dinner "Citi" it will be free dessert due to pie in the face man!

That would actually be nice. Most of the time I am driving and skip the bottle rather than waste it (and its pretty average most times)
