The best way to earn money - keep earning. i.e. evolve and move with the money.

Not at all - it's just the beginning.

In fact - research data shows that those who have achieved status, commence the new year with a higher propensity to fly (and higher share of wallet) than those who fall short.

Status retention requirements continue to induce goal gradient behaviour, and reduced requalification levels reproduce endowed progress effect behaviour.

Are you saying people like to keep their status, and if they fail to do so, then there is incentive to regain it?:)

Yes, and no...well not quite to the second bit, and yes - it's more complicated than that.

It's not just as simple as people liking to keep their status.

Status attainment also elevates the emotional attachment to the brand, which in and of itself, contributes to a higher propensity to fly the preferred brand.

But the goal gradient doesn't tend to occur with those who fly so much that status is a by-product of their flying (ie. someone who does 7000 SC a year).

And when they fail to retain status - there is actually a loss effect in many cases, where they may actually decrease their loyalty.

But if they subsequently pursue it again, they are more likely to attain and hold it - due to a learning effect (they are already familiar with the benefits).

Essentially that's why QF offers soft landings, and "helps" you to maintain your status, even when you're clearly not going to make it.

If the price logged in is higher than that not logged in I'll have to ring QANTAS much more often.

I'm wondering if I can convert my current Citibank cc to the new Qantas one.
Even better if I could receive the signup bonus.

I don't think so, Citibank is filling a different role with their own cards vs the Qantas one. Specifically while Citibank may be providing the back office for the Qantas card its still very much a Qantas rather than a Citi card.

If they offer no foreign exchange fees on international transactions, it might worth looking into.

Definitely watching this with much interest since Qudos became far far far worse value. Fingers crossed!

Or in the context of this forum. Evolve and move with how points can be earnt.

Points Running is not a game for the static if you want to maximise one's earn.

QFF is not my preferred program for many reasons, but for a while now QFF Offers of various types just keep coming. Over about the last year I have clocked up probably a million points to QFF for not much $$ in the main through promos, despite it being the last place I generally award points to if I have a choice.

Looks like the next 12 months will be just as fruitful as I am guessing the launch deal for the Qantas Citibank should be attractive, and 2 other card deals will soon land me 140K for $150 (and I can claim that so effectively $80.

And Amen to that, totally agree - not my favourite program but will take the points if they make it childishly easy to get them.

Wonder if they will offer one point per dollar or greater.... ;)

No leaks/insider information here? :(

I'm sure they're running a fairly tight ship in advance of the launch. Probably busy coming up with marketing spin for the launch... "A simpler and fairer way to spend..." "Enhance your earn..."

If the Qf credit card is anything like Qantas cash, it will be a fizzer......;) I'm not holding my breath for anything extraordinary!
