$2500 spent... 322 points earned. Seems anything that comes up as a "Bill" (including all PayPal charges) do not count as spend.

This card is on an express path to the bin

Ouch! Did you at least get your bonus points? (Or are you still chasing that minimum spend?) My plan is to dump all bills on this prior to getting the Virgin HF card... fingers crossed!

Still need to put another $500 on it (which I just did with about $1000 spend on VA - we'll see if that comes up as "government" spend!).

I think this has got to be close to illegal. All PayPal transactions (including eBay purchases) have earned 0 as well as DEFT. Neither of these are government (especially PayPal, which is American last I checked) and no reasonable person would assume they are a government department. I really don't think their "anyone merchant may turn out to be a government department, so you could get nothing" clause is really good enough.

I used the card to pay Sydney Water via PayPal and got the points. Seems to be no rhyme or reason but will certainly be cautious going forward. Based on comments here, no chance I will maintain card when next years annual fee due

It seems Foxtel are now taking this card (after previously saying it couldn't be used as it was an overseas card).

Can someone please remind me how to get the qantas passes. Want to get them then put this card in the bin

I've been in contact. It will be interesting to see their excuse
Ahy feedback. Also yet to receive a statement but my Lifemiles came up as other expense on the transaction list. For those who have had the card for a while does this category get points. No reason why it shouldn't but this card seems like a nightmare and i need to do the miminum spend correctly.

Went to my local theatre and bought a glass of wine at interval. No points: the theatre is owned by the local Council and apparently so is the bar at the theatre! Might have to take my own next time.

Can anyone confirm/explain how the balance transfer works?

Got the card, made the min spend and received the 60k bonus points. I then asked for the balance transfer which was approved and paid into my Amex account.

The agent told me that if I spend on something else, then interest is charged on that amount from the day of the spend (rather than from the next pay-by date). I inadvertently put a purchase through and paid it off a couple of days later. When the next statement came through, there was no interest charged; although it does have a minimum payment required.

So, contrary to what the agent told me, it seems that there is no interest on new purchases provided that at the following statement date the balance is below the transfer balance amount. Also it appears that I have to pay a minimum amount off the balance transfer each month, whereas the agent said that there was no need to pay back any of the balance transfer amount until the 15 month interest free period expires.

I got two lots of interest included in my 2nd statement. One for that statement period and another for the first statement period. I'd give it another month to see if it comes through.

Didn't even answer my question! Good to see she can't even spell her title!

Ok my turn to winge....Received my statement yesterday and my direct debit went through as requested but then noticed an interest charge for $106 so range QM...after a quick hold the "consultant" said that the problem was a credit was put through by PayPal and the computer doesnt recognise credits !!!... so when the payment was made correctly the computer assumed I short changed QM by $33.00 ( the PayPal credit ) and that led to a $106.00 monthly interest charge !!!....QM reversed the interest charge but that is going on the next statement so I need to pay the $106 now and then wait another month for the credit to be reflected !!!...Grrrr....Then a message on my IPhone telling me QM cant send my statement to my email address ( which they had !! ) and to go to the link and update my details...Well that was useless as the link doesnt take you there as there is no such portal....then says update on qantas.com.au.....bloody hopeless because my details are correct....Incidentally had the same issues with Citi who run this damm card...The card will be binned !!

I can confirm that payments to the ACMA don't earn any points.

I changed my ACT bus card (MyWay) auto topup to my Qantas Premier card, and set it to the minimum of $20, but unfortunately the next payment was processed just after my first statement was issued, so I don't know if it earns points or not. Anyone else know?

Gday

I earned points on DEFT spend.

Dumb question what is DEFT and ACMA thanks
ACMA is the Australian Communications and Media Authority. That's who I pay when I renew my Amateur Radio license every year. (Not that I use it these days, but I have a callsign I'd like to keep, if I ever get back into it.)

Do the bonus points go in at the end of the statement cycle when the $3k spend was hit? Hopefully... (provided all my "non-point earning" spend counts), I'll be able to bin this card in a few days
