Qantas to launch in-depth partnership with Accor ALL

Update: Almost a month after reporting the issue, twice, to Accor, I finally received Qantas points for my January stay, titled "GOOD WILL POINTS" in my activity statement.

These schemes where you have to follow them up all the time are awful. Reminiscent of the 1990's.

So, for missing Qantas points for an Accor stay you need to contact Accor, not Qantas?

My 11th March stays has not generated any Qantas points as yet. The standard ALL points posted within two days.

I followed the advice of Muppet501st above. That Muppet is, of course, not as much of a Muppet as Accor's IT department.

I was told by email that "there seems to have been a technical issue". (If you've ever dealt with Accor before, this will be utterly unsurprising.)

Yes - I'd be contacting Accor ALL, as QF would have given them the ability to post points to QFF members via a data transfer of some kind. If they haven't shown up at QF, it's more likely to be the sender, then the recipient.

Cheers,
Matt.

Has anyone had any luck unlinking their ALL account from AF/KLM so they can sign up to the QF program?

I lodged a request to ALL back in mid Nov. They sent it to the tech dept (ie IT interns) and the sounds of crickets since.

The irony is in in the meantime, FlyingBlue extended the handful of miles I had with them until the end of this year and a couple of recent Accor stays have bolstered them to something almost useable.
Finally received an email confirmation unlinking my account from AF/KLM! Only 3 mths “on hold”…

Their technical issues are inversely related to my loyalty issues, and I know the Muppet department well; in my previous dealings, I got more sense talking to a brick wall - a war of attrition - lost.

That was then; this is now. Since they shacked up with QF, I think their back office is more responsive. I get points posted after checkout and on both accounts, and I have had some decent earns. (I have no idea what I should get and ought to inform myself better - but it looks good - I am knocking close to their top-level - maybe the real sweet spot in this whole deal?).

I would say QF have taught them some discipline in how to run a rewards program; they certainly have sharpened their 'match fitness' to the point now I rule Accor in before I rule them out.

Chasing Hotel loyalty has been like a mirage in the desert sun, but a game I can take more seriously.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

From today, the earn rate for Qantas Platinum & Platinum One members to earn ALL points for Qantas flights will increase from 2 ALL points per $10 to 1 ALL point per $2.

Welcome news.

For anyone wondering, the increased rate is an effective 1.65% cashback in the form of ALL points (based on the current EURAUD Forex rate)

Very welcome news, for me. I have an expensive couple of months approaching in terms of both QF flown revenue in J, and Accor paid nights in suites 🤓

A question on the ALL reward points earning for eligible QF flights: I expect that in order to get the most benefit from this I need to have my family's QFF accounts linked with an ALL account of their own, as well? Or, is there only one reward points benefit per booking, which is calculated from the total base fare for that booking?

Cheers,
Matt.

It's a good question, but I'm fairly sure each traveller would need their own Accor-linked QFF number attached, and be Qantas Gold or better.

I don't believe ALL allows family transfers of its own reward points, so assuming your family have no need to book their own stays with Accor, you'd probably be best transferring the points back out to QFF or another FF program, and then family transferring to yourself.

Are the ALL points credited when the flight is taken, or when it's purchased?

They consistently credit 6-7 days after the flight has been taken.

I just went back and found the only eligible flight I'd taken with family since this began, and the points I earned were much more than what I should have earned from my own base fare, alone... but not certain of whether enough to be the value of all 3 pax. It might have something to do with statuses of the other pax though?

Anyone else able to check from more recent travels? One of the issues is that I can't determine the base fare of an old booking. Best I could do is to re-construct the fare and use today's fees and taxes to get it close.

Cheers,
Matt.

If I'm booking an Accor hotel in London as a Qantas WP, am I better booking through Qantas Hotels or direct through Accor (linked account)? Very little difference in $

If your aim is just to earn Qantas points, use Qantas Hotels.

The Qantas/Accor partnership doesn't yield points on stays outside APAC.
