When not on a return ticket (ie normal for me) I am always asked for my onward ticket exSIN
Even though the causeway to Malaysia is obviously available...

Ahhh yes, you are correct. That would be the exception to the generalisation...

As such, a good practice to carry copies of everything ;)

... I recommend you carry a printed copy of all reservations and tickets for all flights / hotels / transfers and visas for the duration of every trip you ever take. Most of the time you won't need them, but on rare occasions you will, and it pays to be prepared...

This is my experience as well. Multiple airlines in multiple countries have asked for onward travel from Singapore when I check in to go there.

I am a new member and has been reading this thread and discussions on other sites with interest.

I have seen many people booking on the website but not seen anyone reporting back after their trip that they did/ did not have any troubles specially as there is mention that the Expedia Brazil site may not be charging the Fuel Surcharge.

Has anyone successfully completed trips they booked on Expedia Brazil?

Thanks

Yep I have completed a trip and reported back - see TR here: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....nd-trip-photos/qf-syd-sin-day-trip-51448.html

No issues whatsoever at check in or in the lounges :)

I remember not having the printout in Hyderabad, where they asked for ticket / itinerary to get into the check-in area. The security guard had a printout of everyone scheduled to depart in the flights that night, and was able to verify that I was on the list and let me in. Also, all airports in Indonesia that I've been to, requires showing the printout (haven't tried smartphone yet) to enter the check-in area.

If departing from Sydney, I believe you can ask for the check-in counter to printout your itinerary. The staff at the First checkin counter definitely proactively printed one for me when I flew to the USA ("because they usually ask for return itinerary there").

For these .br bookings I always checked-in online and printed out the boarding pass, and never had problems.

At both Bali and Surabaya I've had smartphone itinerary accepted. When SQ started doing return checkins from SIN, I presented a BP instead of printed itinerary. That threw the security a little, but they soon worked it out.

I've been offered the option of paying a bribe to those guards at DPS when I needed to go present my credit card at the check-in desk when I wasn't the passenger traveling. told em to get stuffed

Putting this question out there in case anyone knows the answer -

If, hypothetically, a group of three people booked three identical itinearies on Expedia.br but separately (separate bookings, paid separately etc). Would it be then possible to link the bookings so they would hopefully be seated together?

Or would the only way be to wait until OLCI opens 24hrs before departure and try to check in three people at the same time and select seats then?

No status so no seat selection available AFAIK.

Front up to the desk early and smile nicely

has anyone been able to find the cheap tickets with expedia.com.br?

I looked a few days ago and was able to get flights from Syd-> Tokyo for $780AUD, suddenly the next day they are all $1.5k, anyone have any idea why or any advice on where else to go?

Might have to wait till the next round of sale

Well thanks to all for your advice on this deal. Just got back from an epic weekend in Thailand courtesy of the QF expedia .br sale, all went well without a hitch.

As a random thought, any idea why they run a 744 BNE SIN and a 333 SYD SIN? My mate said his 744 was creepy empty coming over (one person per seat block basically), ours was quiet but not that quiet, and coming back there wasn't a spare seat on the plane.

Ah well, no complaints. Was still a great trip! Would recommend this method to anyone without hesitation!

That would be because BNE has a single daily (but admittedly 2 including EK) whereas SYD has double daily. Which begs the question why MEL only has a 333, noting like BNE it has EK as well, but it also has a Jetstar flight ;)

Brisbane allows equipment swaps, you will often find one of the LOTFAP aircraft inbound becomes the SIN flight allowing for easier maintenance timing while the Skybed MK2 is better than the competition from SQ, Sydney only has a part time 744 as QF5 and an A380 or two to compete with.

Fair enough. Those 333s (at least the two I flew) could really do with a refresh of their Y seats/IFE especially. It's old school! I think I've been a bit spoiled but the tiny screens didn't seem worth it for the giant equipment box under every second seat!

Is that every seat? Flew MEL-SIN last month on the 333 and thought it was just really bad seat choice on my behalf!

Yes its well known that the a330s need a complete refurbishment in both cabins

Nah, every second Y seat anyway (that I saw). A/D/G/K. And it's not small, about 15cm wide, and the whole length and height of the space under the seat. Not sure about the groups of 3 in the back.

It's ok if you get a window cause there's a bit of extra space, or a spare seat next to you (though our flight last night was chock full sans a family who were offloaded on the ground in SIN for medical reasons)
But hey, the quality of product and service on a ~$400 return ticket for those flights is still excellent, and I'd take it any - ANY day over a D7 or TZ flight. Also the efficiency, cleanliness, calm quiet and vast open spaces of Changi never ceases to impress me.
I cleared immigration 4 times in Changi this weekend and never had more than about a 2 minute wait to get processed through. Other big airports have a lot to learn!

With the new sale being valid for 11 Feb through June 30, I am seeing around $550 return.
