Qantas Status Credits Bonus Offers

While I was indeed talking about upgrade eligibility in my post, the personalised DSC offer I took advantage of explicitly did not apply to sale fares. Only saver fares and up were eligible for DSCs. The offer also only applied to international flights, not domestic. The DSC offer was well-targeted in my case, as it incented me to spend more money with Qantas then I otherwise would have.

Would you be able to copy-paste the T&C and confirm this was a double status credits offer rather than 50% offer? How recently did you receive it? Not doubting you, just very interested to hear about this development.

Here you go. As mentioned, I got the offer last year. I then booked a year's worth of international travel in response to the offer.

Yeah I had same offer. Forgot about the sale fare exclusion so missed out on DSC for my DPS-SYD leg... wasnt happy.

Ah yes, the one from earlier last year. I received it also, it was especially odd that in that it seemed quite widely targeted. This was the one I was referring to in post 277, hard to believe it's been only 9 months since that went out... feels a lot longer.

Everyone, happy to report that after 1 week of intensive searching and taking the trip all the way upto to payment, but not making the payment, obviously :) I was able to trigger a 50% bonus SC today morning.

The email subject read "Fly to India, get 50% more SC" :D

bookings from today till 20th Feb for travel from tomorrow till 13 June 2020

Now, do I wait for the DSC, which might not come at all or just go ahead with the 50% bonus SC ;) Ah, confusions, gets me everytime 🤣

Great news - I'm particularly surprised they dished one out for India!! I guess that debunks my theory re routes with QFi metal. 🤷‍♂️ 🤷‍♂️ 🤷‍♂️

Me too. I thought the system wouldn't work when I searched for routes with non-QF metal. However, to be on the safe side, I searched the below routes as well ;

1. SYD-MEL
2. SYD/MEL/OOL - AKL/CHC/WLG
3. SYD/MEL - DXB - MAA/DEL
4. SYD/MEL/OOL - LHR
5. CBR-MAA/DEL

@Ade did you mention in a previous post that you'd searched for DEL/MAA quite a lot previously but had no luck?

I wonder if timing is a factor here - QF flies to India predominately through HKG on CX codeshares right? Perhaps they are doing this in an attempt to get bums in seats on their metal to HKG.

Or testing the market for another attempt at flying into India (if they do - please make it so you can connect to the other OW operators out of India to Europe)

@sbor90 : Yes, I've been searching for AU to MAA/DEL extensively on QF website logged in.

Yes, last year the only quick option into India on OW was via HKG. There used to be 9W (Jet airways) from SIN/BKK earlier, but when 9W closed in mid-2018 (?? I guess), there was no one stop options from AU to major cities in India

Re : bum on seats - that's true. The QF-CX codeshares into India are now flying relatively empty.

Re : timing factor - I had seen this trend of reduced fares on QF-CX codeshares into India right after 9W went out of business, to get customers to CX and the fares went steadily higher due to lack of competition afterwards.

Good point. If QF flies direct into India and connect to MEA and CE - that'd be great. Don't have to worry about other codeshared OW options out of India

go with MH - other than DEL they've always had a quick connections into India.

The thing with MH is the reduced SC earn rate for flights out of and into AU. Only flex Y rates for J and other Y rates are even pathetic

So I choose to fly via CMB as the rates on UL are far better due to codeshare

I've been on the Qantas website daily for the past month searching up flights but haven't received any targeted promos yet

I still think it's inconclusive as to whether you can trigger it. QF seem to be doing a few 50% bonus offers. We got a 50% offer at work this month until end of May to 'boost you to your next status'.

One of the terms was that you could not have participated in an offer in the last 6 months. I got a DSC offer in Oct which has helped me requal plat in 3.5 months. Will see this week if I can get this one too to 'boost me to LTG'.

Did Qantas, by chance, clearly define "participate"?

Say you got a DSC in April 2019, where the offer travel period covered April 2019 to January 2020. Back in April 2019 you booked a January 2020 flight. So the DSC flight was booked more than six months ago, but the DSC flight itself was taken less than six months ago. Does this mean you "participated in an offer in the last six months"?

Good question I'll have to take a look at that tomorrow as Im onboard the 447 to MEL atm. T&Cs didnt seem that extensive so I doubt it. I just finished my DSC flight bookings last week where the offer was in October 2019.
