What results? Broken necks? Pseudoscience charletons the lot. Science based medicine in favour of quacks is the only result that count.

Agree with the sentiment despite the reverse usage of "in favour of".

No no no. Correcting posture of a 9 year old suffering chronic pain.

Ordered a coke zero on a J flight home from Melbourne on the weekend.

Asked for it just in the can which is how I prefer to drink it - only to told in quiet tones that the cabin manager would frown upon that and would I mind it poured into a glass so that the FA wouldn't get in trouble...

That would annoy the heck out of me. I always want to have my Coke Zero in the can. It means less rubbish.

Is it possible to buy a bottle of water post security and take it on the plane with you? Specifically on flights to the US. I can't recall if there is secondary screening or not.

From Australia, yes. And from the USA in the other direction too. No secondary screening in either country. But QFi still hand out a bottle of water on long haul flights.

In Australia (at least SYD and MEL) there is a secondary checkpoint prior to boarding flights to the USA. I've had bottles of water obtained airside removed from me in Sydney before.

Nothing at the gate on my QF flight MEL-LAX and LAX-MEL a few weeks ago. And I had a bottle in my carry-on.

Australia and USA (and NZ) are LAG delivered to the gate exempt countries. There are secondary checks when flying to Australia and the USA from many other countries unless screening is done at the gate.

And the MEL airport site confirms it: Melbourne Airport Restrictions Explained | Melbourne Airport

Not always. The secondary checkpoint is random. There have been times where I've just walked right past it.

At first I was happy about this change because I thought it would mean less plastic waste. However it sounds like they're just switching to jugs + lots of small water bottles, which seems to be completely backwards step to being able to use the big bottles for refilling?

For reference I drink tap water exclusively except in SE Asia (excl SIN), and then I only boil the water. Plastic water bottles are a scourge on our planet.

Well relented on QF73 last Friday and drank the water. it was chilled and tasted quite nice I must admit.

still alive :D

But one day, long in the future you will die and blame it on that water ;)

I already have my toombstone order in saying in part "He lies he today not due to old age, or stress from life, or being stabbed for his P1 card, but due to being forced to drink the potable water in J in 2015" :D

Never had a check coming out of Australia...

OT but I got the dreaded "SSSS" on my SYD-SFO BP last Friday so at the secondary point (they were using gate 8, DFW gate 9) I was given a secondary search which basically involved swabs for explosives and a hand pat down - no inspection of bag, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

It was pretty painless really.

Bottled water has been removed from the MEL Flounge. :(.

But replaced by white wine! At least for now...
