Qantas Red Planet

4 out of 5 accounts received invitations yesterday. I think I will wait and see before deciding what to do.

Nah, I got the e-mail at 5.53pm.

I suspect this will be something like eRewards; a lot of time spent for very little in return. Not sure that I'll bother. :-|
I opted for 1,000 AA miles in April and since then I have accumulated another ~10,000 eRewards points which is ~2,500 AA miles.

Evenings in Brisbane after work are boring. I could research useless garbage on internet or catch up with what Kim Kardashian is doing today or I can do a few surveys. I am not going to miss the 5 minutes here or the 10 minutes there I spend doing surveys. There is a decent reward at the end of the rainbow.

I guess to each their own.

I'm worried that it may not be a decent reward with the "up to 300 points" per survey. Might spend half an hour and end up with 5 points... I'll keep my powder dry until after August 1 I think.

I signed up and did the first two surveys while cooking dinner. We'll see if I continue to do them, though. If the rewards are cough I won't bother.

Just cleaning up my emails and found the 2 part Media Survey in my Junk Mail. Obviously Gmail didn't think much of it!!

Fortunately it hadn't closed, so I have now completed the two surveys.

Are these the only surveys that have been sent out so far?

I suspect you are right which is why I am waiting for the reports before doing anything.

They must be a bit confused, as they sent me this same email twice (2 days apart) well after I complete it the first time

I'm not completing it again - you have my answers already

and sent me an invitation to join about 3weeks after I had joined and completed surveys. If I commissioned Red Planet for market data, based on this inability to identify already registered persons, would I have confidence in data provided by Red Planet? Just asking.

I also noticed that over the course of registration and completing the two surveys, they asked a few questions twice or even three times...

(That's not uncommon in some surveys, often slightly different wording, and answers in different order, to check consistency of answers from responder, ie not just randomly clicking answers)

I have a feeling that these first 2 surveys were not even commissioned by 'anyone'. Rather I think they have been created by Red Planet as a pilot just to see levels of participation and to use as a sample of data to prospective clients.. I could be wrong, but that is my guess.

Wondering how many surveys I will continue to receive when they figure out that the only response I'm really interested in from QF is more QF planes to international destinations from Perth. Though having an upgrade process that actually provides upgrades when premium seats are unoccupied would be an interesting concept. (Caveat - not at anytime award rates)

Happy wandering

Fred

Is there any evidence that any survey will be 'commissioned' by anyone else except QF?

My read is that Red Planet and the 'surveys' are simply QFF loyalty getting you ( generic) to divulge your personal tastes, preferences, dislikes etc, and the weight you place on issues, so they can go to third parties and offer to sell them your email address ( to be used via QF) for very targeted promotions.

Ability to target very precisely makes the email address much more valuable.
