Qantas re-issuing tickets for Emirates flights

Hi all,

Today I received emails regarding re-ticking by Qantas for flights on Emirates Airline. Basically, all the effected flights were booked as Qantas Classic Rewards. below is the text of the email.

Information only - No action required ​ Booking reference:​ ​

Hello, Emirates are making some updates in their reservation systems which means passengers booked for travel on or after 11 April will have their ticket re-issued by Qantas. There will be no changes to your Emirates flight date or time. We'll be automatically processing this for you and will send an updated e-ticket receipt before 1 April. Please do not take any action and wait to hear from us. As part of this process you may receive a cancellation notice. Please ignore this, as your Emirates flights are still confirmed and you will receive your updated e-ticket via email shortly after. Thank you for your patience and we look forward to welcoming you on board soon. Thanks Qantas

I can obviously see that no action is required but does it make any material difference to the bookings?

Thanks for the response.

So did you cancel the flights, had they cancelled the flights earlier (that happened to me too) or were they cancelled because of this ?

Seeing as Emirates recently boosted the taxes and fees associated with reward bookings, it's good to see this wasn't a ploy to rake in thousands from QF frequent flyers who made a booking whilst the going was good!

I’ve had one trip re ticketed. No difference I can see. All very strange to me though. Wonder if the Emirates and Qantas alliance is going to be around much longer

If no more QF dom check in desk will exist, hope linked flights esp EK int to QF dom will be ok with still EK BP issued overseas.
Imagine on your last seactor back to home town, on your trip, your EK issued BP does not work, and you need to do dom OLCI on phone with not much time left!

A fare class change has absolutely zero to with their alliance.

They will still exist, but kiosks will not print boarding passes.
Boarding passes issued by other airlines 95% of the time work fine.

This happened to me to for a classic rewards ticket I booked.
I can see the ticket is now EK flight numbers but was not so when I booked on the app.
I just rejoined qantas club so I am now presuming I cannot use the lounges either. A bit annoyed.

Couldn't you just show them the original itinerary when you enter the lounge (with the QF flight numbers). Usually when an airline unilaterally changes flights on like you in that, you can use whatever you have in your favour. That being said, I haven't encountered this issue with QF, so will let the others comment.
