Does Runway 27 not have an area under the approach path to watch? I recall about 20 years ago in my teenage years, you could drive off the side of the road and there was big areas off the side to watch.

Everyone seemed to be lined up for a Runway 34 arrival. Sure would suck to be down near the threshold.

Thats probably because most wide bodies this morning was landing on RWY34. SQ231 (a380 directly in front) landed that way. AIB35LR was also tracking for 34 and then suddenly it swung out at the and and came back in on 27.

It would be a waste if it was just repositioning flight. It is obvious though that they have a lot of instruments on the aircraft measuring all sorts of things. Fuel burn would be one.

By design, the A351 is the “LR” variant. The “ULR” nomenclature is not an official Airbus variant. Currently, it’s unique to the QF aircraft, so not unreasonable to try and differentiate the two models.

Airbus say otherwise at World's longest-range aircraft, the Airbus A350-1000ULR takes to the skies:

The newton-metre; symbol N⋅m or N m is the unit of torque(also called moment of force) in the International System of Units (SI).

Or has something been lost in translation and NM is the unit of talk at an AFF function.

On the actual topic, has QF ordered the A350-900 or A350-900ULR as their non PS aircraft? Or have they ordered A35K but not the special ULR variant for the others? It might seem they’re not sure themselves if they’ve invented a new LR model.

So they have A35KULR and A35K, or is that A351 not A35K??? Too confusing.

Believe 35K is the generally used abbreviation.

If however Boeing produces a 777-10 I suspect it might become the 77X

My trouble, as a non-avgeek I have no sense of a nautical mile.

Per @jb747 :

A nautical mile is a minute of latitude (i.e. 60 nm to a degree)

Additionally 1 knot ( speed relative to ground) is 1 nm/hour. No it is not knots/hour just knots

And the correct abbreviation for a nautical mile (as used by the International Hydrographic Office) is "M", not NM, not Nm, not nM, although these and others seem to be in common usage; all of which lead to much confusion.
