Fair call. I'm not sure what non-scented (non-fragrance) washing powder / liquid is like (I've never purchased or found anything like it), but some stuff I've seen vended in laundromats, or now added automatically, looks incredibly generic that it's probably used in government operations.

If most people want any kind of scent on their clothes, it usually must be added during rinsing, i.e. fabric softener rather than detergent. Which is more difficult to achieve on most laundromat machines now.

Thinking about it, fairly sure the last laundromat I used in Seoul dispensed non-scented detergent, because I couldn't pick up any scent when I folded the clothes out of the drier. Anti-psychologically for those of us used to using scented detergents, it's a bit of a red flag as to whether detergent was actually used (or enough of it), i.e. how do we know we didn't just pay for a cheap bubble formula rather than laundry soap. (OK so that's a "disadvantage" of autodispensers)

They do make luggage smell nice though. I'm not bothered by scent like some which is lucky given the reek of the tannery place we visited in Morocco.

I usually stock up on REI in der Tube when we're in Germany, and use it for handwashing/Scrubba when we're travelling. How do find laundry sheets? They get very mixed reviews but would be very convenient.

I am another that is very sensitive to smells. You may not have noticed the scent in the detergent but for us sensitive souls we'd pick it up a mile away. I can't wear any perfume and all my toiletries are non scented hypoallergenic. I use the Skipper laundry sheets when travelling.

Just about all washing powders and liquids are artificially scented. There are only a few unscented ones available and they tend to be the 'eco' or 'natural' labeled products.
