Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

I didn't mean working during the flight. I meant a trip where you work at your destination.
I'm aware, however when flying for work I often aim to get a little done on the plane - especially if you're going to be spending an entire day on it. Whilst I recognise some employers are a little more generous with T&E, mine more or less exclusively sits me in the back of the bus. Whatever can be done to improve the experience really should.

“My issues with the airline is that I think the onboard product is just whatever (aside from the friendly crews), and I don’t love all the ways the airline has tried to screw its workforce over the years.”
Reckon they'll staff the inaugural flight with Aussie crew for the cameras? I am genuinely curious how they'll be crewed from an FA perspective (i.e. London crew for LHR flights, AU crew for those US bound).

I doubt that Neil Perry would have airline menus that involves a Wok burner.
If a certain red haired lady wins in a few years, Neil said he'd leave Australia LOL
The 32” has piqued OMAAT’s interest: Qantas Takes Away Legroom On World's Longest Flight, Going Back On Promise

“…as someone who has been covering the industry for close to two decades, what stands out to me most about Qantas is the never ending hype…But I just can't think of another airline that so consistently overhypes what it's going to do.
We're talking announcing things so many years in advance, and also, often not actually following through on promises.”
A case of shallow brooks are noisy? 🤭

QF's marketing is the best in the World
Hard product great
Soft product avereage
Crews average to good
Price - high

Unless I can get an award seat in F (or J), you won't find me on a PS flight from Syd to Lhr non stop! I suspect award seats in J or F will be rarer than...I just can't see any advantage to save 2-3 hours at a 20% cost premium!

Day after tomorrow, Ìm flying Syd-Sin-Man in Sq J with a total flying time of 22 hrs 15 mins, and 1 hr 55 mins on the ground in Sin...plenty of time to stretch the legs and possibly have a shower in the lounge :)

I’m flying MEL-SIN-LHR-GLA w QF next week and honestly the most exciting part of this itinerary is getting to visit QF F lounge again in SIN (so much so I an taking QF35 so I have a full 5 hours to enjoy it)! I purposely book flights to transit SIN or HKG for their lounges and a non-stop to London has zero value-add for me (quite the opposite)

That being said a non-stop to JFK I would value…but if PS NYC is only via SYD then I’d still rather go via AKL for the ease of transiting…

The polar route is not so bad by comparison, to say SCL or JNB routes
Agree, Using the 777 single engine out speed , GCmaps suggest only 120 minutes from a suitable airport anywhere on the route.
.....

However i is important to remember that any diversion for SYD-LHR on any route would mean the pilots go to the hotel.
Who wants to visit Greenland?

I'd say 21 in 32 is worse than having a break to walk around for a bit and a proper toilet etc.

Each to their own, but I don’t think a 60-90 minute break (by the time you get off vs when you’re back in the seat) makes up for extra hours in the seat, especially if you can get more pitch for the non stop (which you should).

Absolutely support an overnight stop, but when it’s this short - to me- isn’t worth it.

Wish they’d gone 2-5-2 in economy. So much better if less than 100% occupied.

With advances in IFE it shouldn’t be so much of an issue these days.

Travelling in whY on these flights will always remain a theoretical exercise for me. I include in that statement the possibility that I absolutely had to travel as the only person my employer could send…

I guess they won’t come into calculations for many because they won’t be BFOD, in any class (and yet I suspect residents of CBR will be over-represented on board 🤔)

Some random travel influencer’s post just popped up on my IG presumedly with the mock F seats in Toulouse:

Reminds me somewhat of Lufthansa’s old school 747 upper deck F with seat + bed (but obviously enclosed here and a lot more modern/spacious)

As well as pilot rest area:

I'm by far an expert in flying F, but that bed looks pretty narrow at the shoulders. Even more narrow than the current J beds.

I've only been lucky enough to fly long haul F once and that was on QR. What struck me was how wide the bed was compared to J.

I know that airlines like to close windows on long haul flights, day or night.

Is this flight going to be 22 hours of darkness?

It does look narrow… the obvious fix for that would be a retractable armrest.

It is same same as lufthansa… which was superb.
Or put the seatbelt at the other end. Plenty wide sleeping the other way!

I’ve always found a separate seat to be such a waste of plane real estate, esp in this instance (as the seat and ottoman are flush with the bed) where you have the opportunity to make it contiguous with the bed into a double bed…
