Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Cathay recognising Emerald better than QF recognising P1. Personal welcome, immediate food and drinks order before take off. If it’s like last time my food will come out before everyone else.

(I'm not sure if this is the right thread for this (feel free to move post if required).)

I hit QF P1 for the first time yesterday. I never thought that I would get anywhere close to this. Thank you to everyone in this community - your tips, stories, encouragement, engagement, and friendship. If you had spoken to me a few years ago (prior to me starting the points game), there would be no cross-over. (No e-mail received from QF though - luckily, I have the screenshots to prove it.)

I need to start looking at the unique experiences that P1 allows over Platinum. It's a pity it's towards the end of my membership year (not expected, I suppose, due to the amount of SCs required), but I'll still have all of my next year to use the benefits.

(This is sneaky but not untrue: a shout-out also goes those running the Velocity FFP. If you hadn't changed your program, I wouldn't have moved my flying over to QF and would've stuck with VA.)

First flight as a new P1 was QF10 last week. I got a hand written card congratulating me on my recent elevation to the P1 tier.

No other notable change from WP.
@faller, how long after reaching P1 did this flight take place?
This is a nice touch.
Was it in the same membership year?
Maybe I should book a flight before my membership year ends to see if the same thing happens to me (I've just come off multiple weekends of trips in a row and my next QF flights will be in my new membership year)?

I qualified on my way to London, about 10.5 months into my QFF year. The return flight was about two weeks after qualifying, so about 11 months into my QFF year.

Expect a call from a VIP team leader within the first couple of business days followed by an email written by a real human.
Thanks @sudoer. I'll let you know if this happens to me.

Thanks for the information, @faller.

Thought I would have been a shoo-in for a CL invitation in this current round, flying MEL-PER at 2000hrs on a Wednesday in the middle of winter (so obviously peak time!!) Alas, as has now been the case for the better part of 2-3 years, the VIP Service Team appear to have lost all of my contact details 😏

Apart from the totally BS "We're monitoring your flight" I never hear boo out of them anymore. Coming up to nine years as a P1 and I could count the number of invitations to events etc. on one hand - the amount I've actually been able to attend due to travel would only take up two fingers!

Lifetime Gold, and, at current earn rate, about five years away from reaching LTP (which as a 37 year-old is a very bad business proposition for QF). That's a whole lotta loyalty that doesn't seem to count for much!
