To all the newly-minted Platinum One frequent flyers out there... I'm curious to hear... what's been your experience so far?

Anything different?

Free upgrades?

... or all hype?

Was told it was full and I could wait around for the BA flight to leave in about 40 minutes. I would get a seat then.

No seat reserved or mention of it even after seeing my BP.

Ah well, that's QF for you, consistently inconsistent.

That is disgraceful.

I hope you have sent an email to the P1 team ..........

I dunno if I could be bothered.
In saying that I've got a couple more US trips before the end of the year, including one with the family, which I'll tell them I want tables booked in all the lounges. Surely it's not that hard is it?

Anyways, sat down by gate 159 and plane spotted, too many gate lice elsewhere.

Personally I think this is the sort of thing that the P1 team and others need to be aware after all you are a highly valued customer and should not have been turned away that is just woeful IMO. Perhaps even send a note to Red Roo.

Although it should not matter, what class were you travelling in?

My question is this. Were you turned away / denied entry ? Or just have a beef that your a P1 and the lounge was that busy you couldnt get a seat and would of had to stand around waiting for one ?

Cheers

PER-MEL tonight: op-up, personal greeting, good meal, wine glass refilled as soon as it was empty.
Perfect service in my books.
Thanks Qantas!!

Forgot to mention, end of September I took the last QF 8 747 tag BNE-SYD... at checkin I received both boarding passes, and my seat remained the same on the big bird, but received an upgrade for the return service later that day, way early, was very happy to come back up the front! Can't remember what I ate, but it was a lovely meal... I was just exhausted.

Anything special on the last QF8 flight to commemorate the special occasion?

I was told no seats, and given the day I had the last thing I wanted was to stand around waiting for one - Drink or no drink. I Was told that a seat will be free when the BA flight boarded.

Hope there weren't any people sleeping on a bank of three seats or with their feet up on some. I would've still gone in anyway and had a look around as things can change in a matter of minutes.

Do lounge hosts ever look for seats for patrons?

Despite what everyone says about the QP in HNL, the staff I've encountered there have always been proactive about helping you find a seat. There's a lady who reminds me of Condoleezza Rice that's always super helpful.

I was in J.

I was told no seats, and given the day I had the last thing I wanted was to stand around waiting for one - Drink or no drink. I Was told that a seat will be free when the BA flight boarded.

So a P1 travelling in J was turned away from the new LAX J lounge (run by QF) the same week as QF launched their 'charm offensive' stating how well they are now treating their P1 customers.......

Unfortunately this is typical of QF. Instead of rolling out QF golf and other non core activities, I would think most customers would like QF to focus on the simple things first. Getting a (or any) seat in a lounge, priority boarding, priority baggage, on time departure, a consistent service and product etc are all areas where QF should be spending time and effort even getting partially right.

The lady was very nice about it, she had obviously scouted out the seat situation, I'd imagine I wasn't the only person told.
Even the extra chairs they have out on the balcony were all full up.

My flight and everything was great, so that side of it went well, I even got 9 hours sleep! But was pretty lousy from the lounge dragons.

When I'm travelling again there in a few weeks I'll hit the P1 team up to reserve a spot. If not I'm going to let my kids go mental in the lounge ;P

No room in the LAX lounge for this P1 tonight...... Sigh.....

That is appalling and underlines why I will never go on a status run to chase P1. It's simply not worth it if they can't get something as basic as lounge access right.

So you weren't denied entry but rather told there was standing room only?
I've been in the Sydney F Lounge and been informed there may not be any seating options (school holidays), QF TBIT LAX and a bunch of other non-oneworld lounges.... I don't think it's unusual.
