Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Curious to hear from those who’ve are or have held P1 at what sort of threshold if any you would consider pushing through to obtain it.

I’ve had a busy few years travel and according to the last platinum newsletter my 12 month SC total is about 4800. Sadly due to membership years date I didn’t make P1 last year and on current bookings will finish this year out around 3300 (with the Qantas earn minimum comfortably closed out). Is it worth the time and money investment to secure the remaining 300?

That close I would probably go for it.
Being able to gift Plat to someone and a year of great access to seat rewards would be worth it.

300 SCs left I’d definitely go for it, but not say >1,500.

I don’t post that much in this thread anymore as I am no longer P1 and the program does change. That been said I do know a few P1s, for the longer term P1’s we all seem to learn what we could/not get away with that are out side the rules. A consideration may be what travel will who have while you are P1, in my cases it was week on week domestic and monthly (sometimes more) international. I was P1 for 10 years and the ability to give my wife WP status was a good benefit as we got access to the OW F lounges, family unit of 3. The ability to request seats (I know WP can do this) but as a P1 would came to just expect that they would be approved, if not by the bot and manual review would come out favourable almost all the time. There were a couple of routes that were harder than others however I never seemed to have any difficulty getting at least 2 J seats (+1 and daughter) during school holidays or at any time.

If you are just after it to say you are P1 that is only a choice you can make, if you think you will get invited to many P1 events you may be sadly disappointed. Others MMV but I found it to be a useful program as it meet my needs at the time.
