To all the newly-minted Platinum One frequent flyers out there... I'm curious to hear... what's been your experience so far?

Anything different?

Free upgrades?

... or all hype?

Yes seperate bookings, I always put anything connecting thru as an information segment, great for easy itineraries and also let's carriers know what you are up to.

I was always worried about that JQ segment so I had let the P1 know about it in the days beforehand and if they could keep an eye out for me, which they did.

As for the ticket, I had a starter max JQ fare so got a refund minus 50 bucks, but of course had to buy a new QF ticket at a high last minute price.

Hi all, Just wondering if any WP1's have experience with the number of guests allowed in the Sydney Flounge? I believe the published limit is one guest (and I presume that kids under 18 don't count as guests) but I was wondering if any WP1's have experience of discretion being shown for an extra guest.

I've taken an extra one into the MEL lounge before without even raising an eyebrow. But then again the MEL lounge isn't nearly as busy as SYD.

It depends on how busy the lounge is.. Generally between 10am - 1:00 PM the F Lounge is very busy with most flights leaving around that time.. outside of these hours it should be OK. I have taken 2 guests on 2-3 occassions and only once I was politely told no as the lounge was very busy with people waiting to be seated.. but they offered the 'J' lounge instead.

Last week unique experience arriving into Singapore. On arrival, the CSM announced my name on the PA and asked to see ground staff on disembarking from the plane. A millions thoughts went through the mind in a second (mostly negative).. then when I met the Ground staff.. she went “Welcome to Singapore Mr. smarty11, I will escort you out of the terminal”.. Then she walked with me when I cleared immigration and customs, till the Taxi stand..

she was just generally chatting with me.. also said “ we value your loyalty” etc..

Not sure if any other WP1 has had similar experience.. I go to Singapore 4-5 times a year… never had this before.

One side of me says that it could be because on a my recent trip I flew SQ.. but didn’t think QF can see my travel history with other carriers!

Nice one QF!

Possibly just ensuring you didn't try to sneak in some arrival access at the lounge.

Well that sounds pretty cool.

Have never travelled to Singapore but am flying there on 21st July, so am looking forward to that!

I wonder if they will try this with PER based P1 with only a few weeks left before QFi abandons us......

I have had better service from my platinum concierge service with Amex individualised en-route service especially in Frankfurt and LHR. Escorted and fast tracked thru customs/border control. The person knew where to avoid the queues especially in LHR

Bit of a thread bump to see how the WP1's out there are going of late.

Still no upgrade love on QF for me since becoming WP1 (unlike EK!).
Domestically nothing has changed, on board still no discernible different between any level and WP1.
Internationally the big difference is the CSM is always on for quite a chat and seems genuinely interested in my experience on board.

Looks like ill requal WP1 at current rate of travel, is it worth striving for, for those that are curious. to me the only plus (and it is a big one) is when something goes wrong, they are all over it.

Row 4 selection on 737s is a good benefit.

If genuinely interested then why had to wait until you became P1 to talk to you? ;)
I think they are just doing their job by following the list of P1s onboard and engaging in small talk as part of the "special welcome". I get it on Dom flights all the time and find it a bit unnecessary TBH.

Have only travelled domestic this year (international trip coming up in July) & think the dom product is great when being WP1, the on board upgrades are great! I love chatting with the CSM's & crew's.

I have the flight sim next week, so looking forward to that.

Smooth flying for me, thumbs up i reckon.

The only difference I have noticed is being able to choose seats near the pointy end. As a WP1 all seats are basically available to choose. That's it nothing else. I for one would love to do a sim experience but it never happened.

Tried recently for 2 seats on a QF(J) sector SE Asia to Syd for sector as part of 1W 280 trip, there were over 8 revenue seats for sale each flight but I was unable to have P1 team manage to get them "released" even though there were "Business Saver" available.
