To all the newly-minted Platinum One frequent flyers out there... I'm curious to hear... what's been your experience so far?

Anything different?

Free upgrades?

... or all hype?

Congrats, im sure you'll enjoy the perks.

Out of curiosity, were you on a Domestic for this first flight? & did you receive an Op-Up? or were you travelling in J anyways?

The general talk on here has been first flight after WP1 recognition you get an Op-Up.

I must have missed the boat on that one. 6 flights in economy past the p1 mark- no op ups

I did read on here somewhere that they werent a guaranteed thing & there has been some who havent, & some who have recieved Op-Up's on their first flights after making WP1.

I will find out next week why I next fly if thats the case or not for myself. Re-qualified for WP1 last week. Also hoping to get the welcome phone call again aswell.

My first four flights as a P1 have been a decent back to mediocrity. First two flights were J Op Ups (my first in over two years), but being on very oversold Hi Viz intra-WA flights, I would have most likely been upgraded as a WP anyway.

On my first 'real' flight, PER-BNE, the CSM noted at the door of the 767 that I had recently reached P1 status and welcomed me on board. He also came down to Y later in the flight to have chat. He made an effort which was nice.

On my second 'real' flight, BNE-PER, the honeymoon was officially declared over as everything was back to normal. They got the meal service finished in Y in less than two hours (767) which is an improvement at least.

I flew BNE-PER in J on one of the refurbished 767 and have to say it was not overly comfortable. I dread to think what Y is like.

We got new seat covers in Y and QStreaming, where the movies have generally been the same for the last six months (there does appear to be an update on the way. However, it has been not been applied to all aircraft as yet).

I noticed one or two of the iPads batteries went flat during the flight. Is this a common occurrence. The lady next to me fell asleep when her battery was down to 13%. How do they deal with large numbers of flat batteries?

Reinstall decent IFE &/or USB power outlets.

As I generally fly on afternoon or evening flights, I have a dead (or close to) battery strike rate of about 33%. They have about 20 spares it would appear and they scavenge from empty seats where they can. I do not recall a flight where people around me have complained that they have not been given a replacement of some sort.

It is just fine in economy. I did BNE-PER and PER-BNE in May and had no issues at all. ;)

My most recent experience was a rather terse and unnecessary email reminding me of the SCs required to be earned if I wish to "continue enjoying the benefits of Platinum One".

I think one of the best benefits of being a P1 would be being able to post in this thread. But I wouldn't know! ;)

Yes.. Ditto.. I also offer myself further restraint from offering any comment in this thread.
'Retreats" back to 6A.. :D

Just had a great one world experience which I can only think my P1 status has something to do with. I had a round the world business ticket flying:

London - HK on BA
HK - Syd - Qantas
Syd - Mel - Qantas
Mel - LA - Qantas
LA - Boston - American
Boston - London - BA

Not only was this a cheap ticket (5800 GBP) but I was upgraded to first on the HK - Syd, Mel - LA and Bos - London legs

Can this be linked to P1 status? - you cant be 100% sure but I bet it was unlikely if I wasn't a P1
