Hi all.

I hope I am posting in the right place.

So, 2 issues here -

1. I have been eyeing off PE return MEL-DFW in June/July.

Selected my flights departing 22nd june, returning 6th July.

I selected PayID. I have done this before with Qantas and there has been no issue. I entered my banking app and made the payment and did everything exactly according to Qantas instructions.

The moment the PayID transaction went though, I went back to the payment page and it came up with an error!

'Generic Error'

'Please review the following items

We are having trouble processing your booking. Please try again or contact us if the problem persists. (3006).'

But the money left my bank account and no ticket issued!

I rang Qantas straight away and the woman said that she could see a booking under my name. I asked her if the system had generated a PNR, and she said yes, and gave it to me. She also told me that the transaction was pending and it may take 2-3 days for them to issue an e- ticket.

Ended the call, opened my Qantas app, and sure enough, there is a trip now with a PNR, but no e-ticket.

Switching back over to my bank account, in my transaction list, the Qantas charge says 'pending', but then when I click on it , it shows the following -

1. A transaction ID
2. A withdrawal receipt number
3 A deposit receipt number
4. OSKO payment.

I asked chatgpt and the response was that my payment has reached Qantas's bank account, but they have yet to issue the ticket, and because I have a PNR, I've got nothing to worry about.

2. Originally, the return leg was $2805. As i got to the payment page, there was another bug, and I had to start again. This time, the return leg was $3325, and I ended up paying it because I could see that the next option was $~4700 x and there was absolutely no way I could even afford to pay that. So I copped it.

Have rung Qantas again and they were deeply unsympathetic about that, but tue Lady (supervisor of reservations team in south Africa I think) said that she is keeping an eye on my transaction until it gets resolved into an e-ticket. She even admitted that my payment had hit their account but hadn't been 'captured' yet.

Can anybody help me with this?

This is astonishing stuff.

I haven't received an e-ticket yet and I'm worried sick that something stinks

What's going on here?

Thanks in advance 🙏

Your worrying too much, etickets can take a week to generate
Really?

Are you sure?

Have ypu paid QF via payID before? For me, payID is usually instant.

Also, apparently Qantas can see that the money is in their account, but they need to process the eticket.

There's no bloody way I'm waiting a week becaise they've told me it will time out and auto cancel after 24-48 hours.

I have used PayID before, it’s not instant as some banks have a 24 hour hold (such as commbank) for new payees and the qantas process needs to allow for it, and I have had etickets not done for weeks. The auto time out is for amounts not paid, not those in the queue for ticketing.

So I've got nothing to worry about although they told me on the phone that after 24-48 hours they will refund me?

I'm just soooo confused.

In my westpac app it says pending, but when I click on the transaction I can see that it's already gone theough as there are deposit ID's, withdraw ID's , transaction ID'S.

The funds have been taken from my westpac account, surely my booking will he processed when the banks open and when the folks arrive into the accounts receivable dept at QF mascot?

Surely I havent been screwed.

I am a worry wart.

I recently paid for a ticket with BPay which says it can take days. However, QF and bank indicated payment had been successfully processed, but QF held the booking until midnight anyway at which point it was ticketed.

Have you entered APIS on the PNR? IME itineries to the USA dont issue ti kets without it.
1. You do not need to enter an APIS in irder to be ticketed. That's simply false, I have ring tuem twice already and not a single mention. Of APIS. Besides, I'm interstate and I have no access to my passport for the next few weeks.

2. What is an IME Itinerary?

It does not happen every time but in my experience, Qantas does often require it for bookings involving flights to or from the USA.

This was an extract from an email I received for a booking I made a few weeks ago (simple USA return flight).

Your itinerary includes travel to, from or within one or more countries that require additional information to meet Secure Flight Passenger Data requirements.

We’re unable to issue your ticket without this information and your booking could be cancelled.

What is an IME Itinerary?
IME is short for in my experience.

Well, I haven't received any emails about that and I think they would have told me about it over the phone if it was the reason for the hold up.

YMMV but its only takes a few seconds to enter APIS and it cant hurt. The overseas call centres arent always reliable.

i always payby CC as i dont spend a dollar unless im earning a FF point but whenever an international ticket hasnt arrived after payment it usually does within 15mins of adding APIS.

That's interesting. I havent received any emails. And when I spoke to them on the phone (twice so far) they didn't mention that as the issue.

Thanks anyway, because I was wondering about the APIS section.

Don't worry, it will change to "processed" probably overnight.

Not sure why but some banks do this even though pay ID payments are supposed to be instant.
I think this will become more common now that scams are becoming more and more common.
Overnight?

The woman (supervisor) on the phone said that there's a clock ticking and that if the money isn't released by 18th Feb Zulu (GMT), my flights will be cancelled.

This worries me because then there's 10 days to wait for the refund and I don't have another $6500 to book again while waiting.

Jeez I hope it ticks over soon. Maybe I'll ring the bank.

Cheers.

Do you have a photo of it on your phone? From memory all you need to complete APIS is exact names, DOB, Document Number, and Expiry date.

How many days since you performed the transaction?

I find credit/debit card the safest and most reliable payment method when buying tickets.

There are other stories of PayID payments being made to Qantas both here and on reddit that have had issues. In almost all cases, there is nothing the bank can do. It is generally up to Qantas (or their third party payment process) to locate/process the payment and then onto Qantas to ticket the booking.

I'm getting stressed out just reading this thread.

PayID payments can, and do, take longer than a CC payment as there may be additional processing and checks done before the payment is cleared, and this could be done by either the merchant, your bank or the merchants bank - or more than one of them - as a fraud prevention measure.

Actually, I just found a photo of my passport. Will enter APIS details and see how I go. Although I'm flying to Dallas where I'll probably spend a few days, I havent booked accommodation, then I'll be heading to Minneapolis and buffalo.
