I must have missed it being reported, but the TBIT transfer bus from T4 is in a different place - not in the downstairs bit on the left (gate 44 was it?). It is now gate 45, on the right as you head away from T4 security (same level) and there is also a QF "service desk" there.
I'm in the F/L now, the QF service desk inside the A/C is no more.
Will be walking over to TBIT soon - just to try it out..
Yep - moved to G45 earlier this year.

I had to use it back in April twice - once when my AA NRT flight departed from a bus gate and the other when my BNE flight (QF16) did the same.

It's a bit weird -G44 was down an escalator inside the terminal and out onto the tarmac, G45 is out from the departures level, down an airbridge and then some further (AeAgles Nest type) ramps to the tarmac.

I won't use it to get to TBIT.

serfty, do you think it takes longer on the bus now they have changed departure gates?
I haven't been to the US since January, so yet to actually use the new setup. Will be there in Aug and Oct so might just plan to do the walk landside instead.

Well you would think it's shorter, however, the bus first headed north from G45 towards TBIT entry building before doing a big loop around to the left and heading south. This avoids building works between T4 and TBIT South.

After that it turned right and head West back onto the old route past TBIT south, way down, then back around to TBIT North.

I missed QF12 due to that bus, taking the long way around, waiting for aircraft movements, then finally dropping off at the very extreme other end of the terminal to where QF12 was departing. This after getting advice from the QF desk at gate 45 to use the bus, and being told I would make my flight...

I'm walking next time.

Ouch! I will usually allow a minimum of 2-3 hours connecting. QF bringing the 94 earlier, leaves me right on the threshold. Walking it is !!!

Cheers.

OK, I'm in the new OW lounge now. Can safely say that it is OK for a J lounge and that's it. F pax will probably be disappointed so hopefully the new F lounge will be much better. Definitely prefer the T4 F/L.

This is the timeline:
7.31 - left the T4 F/L
7.38 - got to the QF check-in desk (had to ask about something)
7.42 - left QF check-in for security (priority)
7.49 - walked into the OW lounge

It's reasonably busy now (Tuesday 8pm).
One good thing is that the wifi is faster.
Otherwise, the food seems to be fine but the alcohol selection isn't good for an int J lounge.

If you don't have priority security then the bus may be a better option

I had left 2hrs. my connection from DFW was late leaving and the AA crew at DFW insisted I'd make the connection..QF94 was what I ended up getting, so thankfully not a full 24hr delay. The OW lounge was very busy so I stuck my head in then walked back out.

Are you saying you had 2 hours at LAX and still missed your flight back to Oz?

Close to 2hr delay leaving DFW. ebbed up landing into LAX about 21:45. Boarding for QF12 starts at 21:20 for a 22:10 departure.

QF staff at LAX was a case of left hand not taking to the right hand...

25 minutes?

You would not have made even if you had walked ...

I understand that. This time, the QF staff at gate 45 told myself and other passengers also bound for QF12 that the flight was waiting for us and a bus had been organized.

In reality the duty manner over at TBIT had already closed the flight, hence my comment about the poor communication.

Must be a bit of a variable experience with the transfer process, or at least dependent on the time of travel.

I connected from SFO last Thursday, arriving into Gate 47 a few minutes before 5pm (travelling on to SYD on QF12).
Got to Gate 45 around 5, and staff said the bus was waiting and about to board.
I was the only passenger, and it seemed to take a fairly direct route across from T4 to TBIT, along the TB South terminal and to the bus arrival gate in about 7 minutes. No delays for aircraft movements.

Got the the new Lounge around 5.20, with only a few passengers in the lounge. Staff were actually having a briefing on the fire-place area, and the showers were not staffed, but one of the bar staff set me up with a shower room.
The buffet was set up, and wait staff very eager to bring drinks, and recommend the food options.
Lounge got progressively busier as the evening progressed, and pretty full by around 8.30, though there seemed to be enough seating.

I had the exact same experience on Sunday Jul 20. I arrived early to the lounge, 5pm, and shared the lounge with a handful of pax until about 8pm when it progressively filled up. I over heard the staff briefing near the bar/fireplace area - the manager was stressing the importance of providing an exceptional experience and always trying to see things from the pax perspective. Be accommodating where-ever possible, and turn negative situations into positive outcomes. I was very impressed by the customer service level that is being trained at the facility. The manager came around and had a chat with all the pax, ensuring everyone was taken of. In 5 months the lounge will be doubling in size plus the addition of the F lounge, so the experience will be even better in the near future. I was highly impressed. My wife was impressed with the healthy food options and the kids were impressed with the less healthy food options! :)

The QF website lists the opening time as 1030. Is this correct or is the lounge open earlier for passengers going through to JFK?
I have a booking on QF15 next year and curious to know. I will also be checking in at TBIT as I arrive a week earlier on QF11.
Grateful for any info from people that have done this tag flight separately (a few years since I have flown on QF to JFK).

Are you looking at the business or first lounge? The QF website says the business lounge opens at 6am.
