It looks this happened always. I noticed a few other guys encountered the same before. I am going to call the bank again to see if anything they can do before my statement coming in 15 Jul. Thanks again for all your reply.

This does seem unusual, and perhaps I can assist. Please send me some details via private message for my reference.

Banks simply have to wait for a charge to 'hit' your account before they can initiate a chargeback. ...

It may have been listed as 'AUTHORISATION ONLY' in which case they cannot do anything until it does 'hit'.

This was the exact advice I received from Amex last month after a taxi service charged me $681 for a $14 fare.

Although an authorisation should have dropped off by now - especially if it has been one month. Don't they automatically fall off after a couple of weeks if not finalised?

Yup. 7 days at most usually, sometimes a little more. If they have hit the account, you can lodge a chargeback.

Here's the update. There's no scam for the mischarge. After I talked to Qantas Finance, I know what happened for the charge. In a short, Qantas made a mistake and charged me.

I ever booked two tickets (two different bookings) with my credit card from Qantas China online back to late Apr. This is interesting. Maybe you are not aware of this. The tickets won't be issued until you are presenting your credit card to Qantas Shanghai or Beijing office. By default, the bookings will be cancelled within 7 days if you can't pay in person (or someone else pay by Cash or credit card onsite) in their China offices. I actually informed Qantas to cancel both bookings by email on Apr 28. For some unknown reason, Qantas China team made some mysterious mistake, they only cancelled one of my bookings and charged me AUD772 for the other after more than one month on 15 June. This is really weird. Normally, they should charge me in RMB currency. I guess that's reason I could not recall why QF charge me AUD772.

Finally, QF already refunded me AUD772. Because of big drop of Aussie dollar, I actually lost AUD75 for the mistake by QF. I am currently asking Customer Care to compensate the differences which I thought it makes a lot sense.

I did ask to refund to my savings account or credit card in Australia. However, QF finance rejected and said they can only refund to the original card. Then I was suggested me to talk to customer care. Any suggestions, how can I get back the loss from Qantas quickly?
