Qantas mechanical problems just 'bad luck'

Qantas Airways series of mechanical problems is due to bad luck not scrimping on maintenance, the head of Malaysia Airlines' engineering and maintenance (E&M) arm says.

Malaysia Airlines' E&M division, which has done maintenance work for Qantas, said the recent spate of safety incidents to plague the Australian carrier could happen to any airline.

It is possible that this statement is true. I know QF have had some issues recently but most of them have been identified as potential issues in the manufacturing of the aircraft and could happen to any airline. As far as I am concerned it is still one of the safest airlines....

I think the number of incidents are around the same, just the media is hyping it all up..

Personally I'll stick to flying QF.
