The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

Question re: requesting upgrades on a Flex Y domestic ticket as SG.

As SG on a Flex CBR-ADL and could not request upgrade 90 mins (approx) prior to departure. Ticket was booked thru work TA, who confirmed that there is no restriction to request upgrades etc.

1. Google AI Overciew tells me that the windows to request upgrade closes 5 hours before departure
2. QF website says 3 hours before boarding
3. I thought if the pax is WP and above, they can request upgrade in the lounge until boarding is announced. Is there something similar for SG?

Which one of the above is true - any thoughts please? Thanks in advance.

Any lounge member - qantas club upwards - can request an on departure upgrade. This is within three hours of departure.

If available, they will be confirmed instantly.

Perhaps no availability in your case?

Didn’t have access to EF, so couldn’t check. But out of the 9 J seats onboard E190 only 4 were occupied, rest were empty.
This page - https://www.qantas.com/au/en/freque...ticle:nn:en:nn#domestic-on-departure-upgrades - seems to indicate that if it comes back ‘unavailable’ there are no seats for upgrade.

Could be a catering issue.

Not sure if the right message came up though in your case? While the upgrade is unavailable, maybe it got your eligibility wrong?

Can I bring my child under 2 to enter the qantas lounge via the complimentary lounge invite ? does he (under 2) need his own separate invite or can he enter with me?

I booked my a points flight with Qantas. Is it possible to get the 6k points waived with a medical certificate?

Totally separate to Qantas but I also have a cash flight booked with AirAsia. Any chance I could get a refund/credit with a medical certificate?

I know in the past I have had the fees waived, just be polite on the phone

I lodged a ticket through their compliments/complaint portal and also sent an email @acinod after cancelling flights on Sunday for upcoming surgery on Monday.
Reply by Tuesday was to supply a medical certificate - which I did Wednesday.
Am waiting on the outcome but by the tone of the email response I feel reasonably confident. I will update with my outcome.
Not sure about Air Asia, but worth a try.
Good luck.

Air Asia has a similar policy, require medical certificate. The process is outlined in their website.

Update : @acinod received email confirmation from Qantas today.
Points cancellation fee 6000 per pax immediately refunded to my account with a nice email - assuming from a human - if not - still very happy with outcome @iamsuperandrew

Under 2 years old won't be a problem. I have taken infants in several times.
Enjoy the lounge! It's a great space when they're asleep and you can treat yourself before the flight
Yes agreed. No need for a pass for under 2
