Travelling to Hawaii later this year (with Jetstar). My friend gave me a complimentary lounge pass which unfortunately expires next month (I've given to another friend who is travelling this month), but I've found these listed on eBay. Never been to a lounge before, so would it be worth going for something different? Obviously it'll all depend on how much the pass is going for on eBay.

Ebay has clamped down on these being sold and more than likely the ad will be removed.

Why the QF club, food, drinks (coffee, tea, soft drinks and alcohol after 12), clean toilets, showers, TV and in some instances interaction with AFF members

Flight to HNL doesn't leave til 6.40pm.

Provided passes are still on eBay, would they still be honoured?

Alcohol would be available all the time in an international lounge ;) it's only domestic where they don't open the bar till midday.

Depending on how much you pay, it could be good value, but I reckon you'd have to get it for a steal really. Unless you're arriving 3 hours prior to departure and intend to drink copious alcohol/eat plates of food... you're probably not going to make good on the money spent.

Best idea is to think of what you'd buy in the terminal if you weren't in the lounge (i.e. say you went to a restaurant and paid their inflated prices for a meal/drink), would you spend more or less? :p

eBay will happily let the auctions run until closing time and only then will they cancel it wasting both the seller and purchaser's time.

The going rate before the eBay crackdown was around $50 which in my opinion is not worth it. You can buy a lot of food in the terminal for $50 and food that you actually want to eat as opposed to whatever Qantas feels like serving you. You will have to drink a lot of alcohol to get your money's worth.

But if you've never been inside one before I can understand the curiosity and you can maybe justify the cost by being able to see for yourself that it really isn't worth it.

I depart MEL on Monday 24th August :). Travelling with my sister. Just got the base airfare and want to avoid buying meals inflight. Usually pack snacks from home and stuff (mainly for boredom eating LOL).

You'll be OK with the passes.

Can you get $40-$50 value from the lounge? Or would you be happy to get away from terminal?

A quick check on Gumtree shows double passes going for between $50 - $100. As you have never been to a lounge before then go for it, it will be a nice way to start your travels. You could easily spend $50 in the terminal on a couple of drinks and a snack so put it to better use in the lounge, in a comfy chair and in a quiet and relaxed environment. Grab a shower before the flight in clean toilets and then have a few reds in the lounge which always helps the flight go faster

Hi Nessa

Did you purchase them? If so, how did it go eg did they arrive ok? I'm considering doing something similar if they aren't too expensive but have concerns over whether they will arrive or not LOL

Howdy. Haven't bought the passes yet. Still deciding whether or not to get them. Not travelling til August, so still have some time.

As you get closer check the Lounge Meets thread. Someone might be travelling on the same day that could guest you in thereby negating the need for you to buy passes.
